John and I left my place at 8:30am and made it to
Cedar City, UT. at 8:00pm just as it got dark (9:00 Utah time).

Great weather and no traffic, guess that is one good result of gas prices

Hey Doug, you guys anxious or something? The 3 of us Pac Nor'westers (Brian, Dan & myself) aren't arriving until Thursday.

I understand that you and John have room for one more in the cabin. Really thankful for that, cause I was a late decision maker on weather or not I could go and Brian & Dan already had their arrangements made!

See you guys down there Thursday!

John

Looks like the left coast is headed this way. Gitty-up! The weather's good, if not a little windy. John, there is one cancellation that I heard of leaving a room available in the lodge. It is room 3L and goes for $60 a night. Contact me if you need or want more information. Y'all be safe and git on down here!

Well we managed to get some dirt in today, Hells Backbone between Escalante and Boulder UT. Took us over 9000 feet and some great views of Box Death Hollow. Got to love the names they give these places.
We'll work our way across the Escalante Grand Stair Case tomorrow on the Burr Trail, and cross Lake Powell. Try and get some pictures up soon.
John your room will await your arrival Thursday.

Later

All right! I do have a place to stay. Tks again John & Doug. Red River here we come!

Now if the snow will just get out of our way. The forecast is looking like there may be more coming to the Rockies at least.

Brian, you checking our route buddy? I may need my Kilimanjaro after all!

John

Rango, many Tks for the offer buddy, but it looks like John & Doug are willing to allow an old cuss like myself to share their accommodations, so we're covered!

Hopefully there will be other late-comers looking for a place to stay.

Monday - Windy and cool, skirted a couple showers, took a ferry ride across Lake Powell, thru The Valley of the Gods, stayed in Mexican Hat.

Cleared by morning after raining overnight. Visited the Goosenecks, Hovenweep indian ruins and 4 Corners. Crossed the Contiental Divide while riding thru a few showers on the way to Chama for tonight.

Made it to Red River Wed. about 1:00pm despite hitting hail shower 2 miles from the Hotel.

Started snowing at dark and by morning there was 2 inches on the roofs.

Sun came out about 4pm and now we are at dinner (first place with wireless) and blue sky is letting the sunshine in the window.

Tomorrow is forcast to be nicer and to be in the 80's by Sat.

Guess we will hit the "HOT" stuff on the way home.

We'll get some riding in the next couple days after hibernating today and acting as greeters as riders arrived. 24+ here for dinner.

Left Red River at 7:00am and passed thru Durango, Moab, got on Hwy 50 and now in Fillmore, UT. at the Best Western.

10hrs on the road 600+ miles, will be home tomorrow late afternoon.

Glad to be out of the cold but now getting hot, had about 4 hours this afternoon that were just right. Scenery is amazing no matter how many times you pass this way.

Same for me, pulled into the driveway at 6:35pm thanks to a pick-up that ran 80 as a rabbit from Caples Lake to Pioneer.

Thanks John for all the fun, snow and (well you should have come along if you want all the details).

Saturday started and ended with good weather, bit cool at times but not too windy and dry. It was a traveling day to ride the miles and get to Utah, although I had a few RCB tour pictures to get.

DAY 2 Sunday May 11th Cedar City to Escalante UT.

We slept in and started riding about 10am after a good breakfast. The first stop with a little dirt was Kodachrome Park (http://www.utah.com/stateparks/kodachrome.htm) with lots of picture opportunities. All the pictures are below and yes that one picture does look exactly like a body part. We even took a one mile hike around to the arch.

Later that day we checked in at the Hotel in Escalante, stripped the GS's some and took an afternoon ride on Hells Backbone. The gravel roads were rutted somewhat but nice and dry. Just noticed we didn't stop for any pics but at the bridge. Lil Joe joined us on this trip and posed for picture up on the back bone.
