It's time to install my SmartTire monitoring system and had a question on where and how to install the monitor. Where is a good place to install it and what about power? Should it always be hot or is switched OK? I try to keep my bike uncluttered and if it can't be seen all the time, that's OK. Just looking for ideas before I start to drill holes and strip the bike for the wiring..

One more question: If a dealer installed the tire sensor, what did they charge? I'm tire replacement challenged!

You should use switched power, Not constant on power. I would mount it on or under a BMR shelf. Bring the installation manual with you to the dealer. It shouldn't take them more than 5 minutes per wheel.

I powered mine from the rear seat heater plug. Wire up the left handlebar. Display velcroed to the clutch reservoir.

Dan,
By chance can you take a picture of it? I just ordered the Smartire system, and I was trying to think of a place to mount mine as I do not have the bmr shelf.
Thanks!

I wired my SmarTire monitor to the map light using some clip-on 1/4 spade adapters. Very simple and very clean, with no additional fuse required. I then placed the monitor on the large rounded silver cover under the windshield, right next to one of the windshield adjusting arms using sticky-backed velcro. Ran the wire down into the groove for the adjuster and zip tied it out of the way. Worked great, was easy to read, and I didn't have to drill or cut anything. :)

I installed the monitor this afternoon as per Ken's directions, it was easy and looks very good. Took less than an hour. I removed the windshield and front grey cover behind the light to get to the wires that I had tied off, wired in the monitor and it worked. Now to get the sending units installed next week.
