I had a new rear tire installed on my carry in wheel yesterday. I told them when I came in that I wanted a Fresh tire, not something that had been on the shelf for a year.

I didnt look at it until this morning, It looks like I have a 1.5 year old NEW TIRE. Should I worry about this? Should I take it back?

I wouldn't worry... some people feel that an aged tire is better. It gives the tire more time to "cure".

Many large truck lines will purchase large amounts of tires and warehouse them for a year or two to allow the tires to "cure".......

I wouldn't worry...

The last Metzeler (currently running on my bike) was 2 years old.

I am approaching the 6K mark (normal life for my "riding style") and haven't seen a problem.

I wouldn't worry about it.

As a reference point:

Michelin covers car and light truck tires for 6 years from day of purchase. No reference to production date at all.

Not to worry! TJ said at "07 CCR that even a 4 year old tire is still OK. After that it's questionable. One fellow in our group said he had a 6 year old tire on the front of his LT and it still had good tread. He didn't say how many miles it had, but TJ told him to take the bike up the hill to the Dealer in the parking lot with new tires and have them put one on. Don't know if he did that , but TJ was sure nervous about him riding with a 6 year old tire.

However, you did state that you wanted a fresh tire when you took your wheel in..........so, I'd at least go have a look at their supply to see if you did in fact get the newest tire they had on the shelf. Otherwise, just ride. It'll be fine!
Just my .02 cents worth :bmw:
