If you have not yet decided to attend CCR, here is my up-to-date top 10 list why you should go:
You save fuel by riding your bike to the destination
You don't have to worry about the dollar euro exchange rate
No passport required
No delayed airlines, TSA agents, and luggage searches
If you have any difficulties along the way, hundreds are eager to assist you
If you get arrested for speeding we will take up a collection to post bail
You will not have to hear for the 1000st time : I did not know that BMW makes bikes
Very few Harleys around
Great company, some are a little off-beat but harmless
Great rides, great food, and a top notch resort.
My wife and I have been to: Gatlinburg, Breckenridge, Tetons, Chateau Elan, and the Ozarks. All of the events were outstanding. This one promises to top all of them.
Limited space is still available, sign up now!

UH! I think you might check on # 3. No passport required, the last time I was in Utah they requested my passport! Something about speaking a foregin language. Then they realized that Louisiana is in the US. I tried to convince them that they were the ones that talked funny!

I may go next year or year after that :)
Does the location change every year and do you know where it will be next two years?
Is there other main events within a 3 week periode at that time?
PS For me I Guess I will have to deal with most of those points :)

God point for me personally:
There are actually a few that are OLDER THAN I !!! I like that!
Than again, some of them look high school age.
That is one nice thing about CCR, people from all over, different ages and back grounds. And as we can see on this board the political and religious opinions are all over the place.
Amazing how sharing a hobby can bring folks together.

Paaloo,
You will find this to be a very educated, tolerant group of folks. The only form of slavery some of us practice is that we have consenting sex slaves. :D
Some of us are legal gun owners, and since the bad guys never know who has a gun crime is kept at bay. Most of us own various versions of the bible, some are atheists, but we really dont care and respect everyones right to warship or not according to their belief or disbelief.
This is all about the bikes, the rides, meeting new people, seeing old friends, and having a great time. Join us and relax, it will be the experience of a lifetime. Just ask some of the visiters from Europe that have attended before.

Paalao, this is more like a family reunion. We look forward to it each year and many of us go into post CCR depression when it ends. I have more fun and laugh harder than at any time.
The folks are what make it, the hundreds of BMW's in one spot is beatiful and this year's riding is nothing but spectacular.
Are we there yet?

Norris;
There are any number of unusual things to experience at a reunion. There are strange noises, unusual sightings and even posted warnings on hotel room doors. We have had pies in the face of organizers, wonderful visitors from overseas in 'unusual' hats, ATGATT even in the swimming hole and mass invasions of local businesses. We've chased biscuits, burritos and fellow BMW riders. There has been hot, cold and even a little rain and snow. We've been in tourist towns, tiny towns and National Parks. We've been from nearly sea level to almost 10,000 feet. We've closed an aquarium for a private party, been entertained by Flamenco dancers and written about in two national publications. You absolutely never know what will happen each year. Most of all we have had FUN.
And remember...
What happens at CCR stays at CCR!

There have been rumours of sightings of him being on camel back in some obscure Middle Eastern desert, to him being surrounded by a bevy of beauties in Paris, to an allusion of an illegal moonshine still in the Appalachians......

Talking about fundraising:
For the benefit of those who have never been to a CCR, can someone post the amount of money raised over the years and who benefitted? This whole concept of private citizens having fun and raising money for a good cause is far more common in the USA that in most other countries. Some of our non North American members may not even be aware of that aspect of CCR and life in the USA in general.
Also, do we know already who benefits this year? Knowing this may sway some folks that are sitting on the fence.

Directly from Gilda, our charity and silent auction chair:
Each year 100% of the proceeds from our auction are donated to a local children’s charity, located in the area where the Rally is held. We choose a charity that is not funded by various levels of government nor receives large grants from other groups. As of the close of our 2007 event, Curve Cowboy Reunion has donated approximately $100,000.00 to various needy children’s organizations. In 2007, the recipients were, Camp David of the Ozarks, a free summer camp for children of prisoners who are at risk. In 2006, the recipients were, The Tree House, Barrow County advocacy Center, which is involved in the care, counseling and welfare for battered, abused and sexually abused children and their families. In the past years we have donated to children’s charities such as Focus on Success, a group dedicated to at-risk middle schoolers to prevent substance abuse and provide life skills for success. We have also donated to Tame Foundation, which provides equine/human interaction therapy for disturbed and autistic children. Also, among the list are Boys and Girls Clubs, The Summit Foundation and Interact.
This year’s recipient charity will be, Wasatch-Summit County Children’s Justice Center. CJC is a non profit organization which investigates, prosecutes and initiates treatment for children of abuse, sexual abuse, serious physical abuse and neglect. Law enforcement officers, physicians, child protection workers, victim advocates, therapists and prosecutors work as a team to meet the needs of the children and their families.

I'd like to add one thing to Grif's post from Gilda.
The types of charities that are selected are ones that are very much in need of our support. For example, we were able to provide Focus on Success with a donation that literally doubled their budget and doubled the number of at risk children they could support. In the case of the Barrow County Avdocacy Center, our donation allowed them to provide services for an additional 20 children that otherwise would not been served by this organization.
Since 2000, the generous attendees of the Curve Cowboy Reunion have been able to have a big positive impact on the local communities and charities we support. Sometimes we forget that part when we are thinking about the roads, the camaraderie, and the spirit this event provides.
