Hi All,

Now heres a request! I am looking for ideas from you guys as to what gadgets and widjets you would like for your bikes that you cant currently get.

I am looking for a manufacturing oppotunity and as I am a BM rider myself I would like to do something that is affiliated with the marque.

I would be thinking along the lines of luggage, brackets etc. I know this stuff is available already, of course, buy i would like to seek a cost advantage by selling only thru the web and cutting out a lot of "middleman expenses".

Anyone got any ideas? Kind regards,

Simon H.

This is a great offer!

I would like a wireless LED brakelight kit to go in the trunk of my RT. It would have to include a harness that attach to the brakelight wiring, a wireless transmitter and receiver, the LED's and exhangable batteries to power them. The battery package would have to be tucked away inside the trunk itself somewhere. The LED's would have to be waterproof mounted in drilled holes in the top part of the trunck.

How about a mesh bugscreen for the oil cooler on RT. A nice black and glossy one wich is easy to clean.

More suggestions to come..

When you drop the RT from stand still the side cases often get scratches like these : http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/1029125/Main/1018434#Post1029125

I am picturing that VentureShield : http://www.ventureshield.com/pdf/NEW_VS_SellSht.pdf probably could give enough protection to avoid damage to the paint. Maybe you could cut VentureShield so that it fitted on the outside of the cases (making it large enough to cover every area that would touch ground on a typical impact.)

I have made several screens for oil cooler and radiators at my company "Bug-Guards for Beemers" and have been working on one for the RT for a while. Getting a screen for the oil cooler is EASY, the problem is getting to the oil cooler. I spent 4 hours at Bob's last Friday trying to figure out something so you don't have to remove the entire nose cone, which is what needed to get to the oil cooler. I have even gone so far as ordering a nose cone and the silver piece that fits in front of the nose cone so I can try out a few ideas.

I'm working one, but in the meantime, if you have a LT check out my website at www.bugguardsforbeemers.com. Many on this list have my screens for them as I have had them on the market for almost 5 years now.

Thanks, Gene

Oil cooler bug screens are already available, they fit over the the existing nose cone in front of the oil cooler. They look very smart, take 5 minutes to fit. Made by the German accessory company!

WHICH German co?
I've seen several, but from what I can tell of the online instructions, they all take a significant amt. of work to install.

My wife would like a side rail of some sort that she can hold onto, something that is higher than the OEM's. We rented a Harley while on vacation which had a backrest that she could comfortably hold onto behind her back. Our top case would prevent that option however.

I doubt this could be used with a top case, but handrails could be installed the same way. I contacted the manufacturer, but they never replied.

With the bike on the centerstand and cleaning in progress, I would love an easy way to rotate the front wheel for cleaning. A device that might grab the tire and lift and rotate it.

Wunderlich makes one. I ordered mine from the on line store at BMW Santa Cruz.

I would like a massage seat for my hemorroids. This way I wouldn't have to get off the bike and walk around for a few hours to ease the inflammation. I think having a massage unit built into the seat would at least reduce the pain and would allow me to enjoy my 500 mile per day trips. More and more of us are reaching senior status and we suffer from maladies that are common for our age group. Since we have seats that are heated and wiring available, it doesn't seem out of the question to have a motorized seat that undulates. This could really be a fun way to spend time on a bike. I'd also think having a hip potty with catheter could also be a neat idea that would allow many of us with incontinance to easily relieve ourselves while on the road. Waiting for the next roadside bathroom can sometimes be unbearably long for us. Just my 2 cents worth.

Interesting that you started this thread. I may be hijacking your thread however. This silly idea keeps popping into my head. So here goes:

Why can't a cooling jacket be developed? We have heated jackets that work great. I was thinking about the 12 volt plug in coolers for the car. They reduce the temp 40 degrees (it says in the instructions). Thermo was not my strong suit 50 years ago. But if the temp inside the jacket was reduced by just 20 degrees that would be from 100 to 80. 80 is nice. As I recall, the plug was plugged in one way for heat, the other for cooling. Something about a thermo coupling????

Any thoughts?

Yeah, I am aware of the Wunderlich unit, but I don't like the looks of it. Maybe I work something out myself. My head is spinning with RT customizing ideas at the moment!

I love the BMW tank bag for the RT, however, I would like to be able to switch out bags depending on the ride. Smaller ones for day rides and larger ones for long trips. I bought a smaller bag and then found a used BMW bag on Ebay. I took the original BMW bag off of the plastic mount and am still fiddling on mounting the smaller bag. This will in essence give me two bag size options and still have the really nice tank attachment setup of the original BMW design. It would be nice to interchange bags on that plastic piece.

Another item, would be light brackets that would hang below the mirrors and accommodate the larger 4-5 inch lights.

Customized lockable shelf for the LT over he dashboard, maybe in plexi glass where you could also hide radar detectors and camera.

A frame like the one on the BMW tank bag with some kind of tie down loops so one could add any kind of bag to it. The frame would should be a clip on and off type, same as BMWs. Also one for the back of the bike where the trunk luggage bag is. I often carry a duffel bag and hate all the tie down straps needed to secure it. Something that would clip on and off would be the ideal solution. :histerica

*It has been mentioned once but having a Tank Bag module (Large/Touring and small commuting type bag) setup that snaps in and out of the existing late model RT mounting system would very useful to me.
*The Market could also use another vendor that would offer Affordable liners for the Top Case and saddlebags.
*While you’re doing that you might as well make a thin carpet liner kit for bags and top case as well.
*I would also like to see a GPS Bar mount that uses both Mirror mount holes as its attachment point. Handy place for a small pouch as well.

Ok I’m dry time to go to the idea bank again.

I like this. I'd add turn signal funtion to it.. whcih would also work with hazards on. Also have a manaul function so you can have it flash if you're disabled wtih a dead electrical system. Have some of the LED's light up all the time. Have it use maybe 2 AA batteries. I know the rear LED flasher on my bicycle lasts a good 100 hours on 2 AAA batteries or a single AA.
