Looking for passenger armrests for 2006 K1200 LT, any thoughts out there pertaining to style, comfort, and a distant requisite, the ability to easily remove the arm rest when riding one-up. I don’t mind the idea of the mounts remaining, but would just like to not be required to move them when accessing the top box when I am without passenger.

Here is a link to one style. Haven't done this on my unit yet but Ilike these the best,

Have to aggree 100% with Bighopper, have them for the SO for over two years, can't beat the price, fit, finish and flexability. They flid straight up instead of outward like some do. Installation instructions are fantastic, although give yourself the better part of the day to install properly.

I also have had these for 2 years. My wife loves them and they fold up out of the way when not needed AND do not affect the operation of the rear trunk lid. In my opinion Don's armrests are the best and the installation instructions are great.

I have the style that (for lack of a better term) rolls back and behind the trunk. Given a choice, I'd rather the style that Bighopper showed you.

I had to remove them. Although my wife liked them when she was on the bike, she managed to hit them with her foot when mounting causing her a great deal of pain.

However, this might not be an issue for others, she has had both hips replaced and is not as nimble as she used to be.

I thought about Don's armrests, but bought the GG Technic ones instead. Both install using the same method of removing the rivits on the hings and replacing them. Don's uses nuts & bolts I believe. The GG Technic uses repalcement rivits. Both require relocating the case light switch.

Don's cost significantly less than the GG Technic, but I still preferred the GG Technic. My wife and youngest daughter both like the GG Technic armrests. They also fold up out of the way when not in use and make opening the case quite easy.

I also use Don's armrests and have been very satisfied with them. My SO is 5'5" tall, but the brackets that came with the kit put the armrest at too high of position, which put pressure on her shoulders. Don also makes a pair of brackets that lower them about 1", which I installed and which made for a perfect fit.

Don's are da bomb, but go for the lowering brackets for most women.

My wife feels much more secure : She's actually quit GRABBING me in the twisties.

The installation is a bit tricky and will take quite some time - but well worth it in my book. Installing a helmet lock in the base of each unit is - in my opinion - the BEST place to lock up your helmets when off the bike.

I installed Don's last year and my wife loves them. She said it made a world of difference having a place to rest her arms on the longer trips. The installation is kind of a pain, but worth it that she is happy.

I also can whole heartedly recommend Don's armrests. I found the installation quick and easy, as I have a '99 model I did not have to worry about the trunk light switch as that was a later addition.
I did make one modification to Don's bracket shown in step 18 on page 11 http://www.eagle-i.us/ins_armrests/index_files/Page445.htm and also meant I did not have to drill and tap as shown in steps 6&7 on page 5 http://www.eagle-i.us/ins_armrests/index_files/Page299.htm.
As you can see below, I just quickly knocked out a couple of brackets that made use of the two middle screws on the trunk lid mount.

While I agree with everyone else's comments regarding liking the Eagle 1's...they do interfer with trunk lid operation...you will not be able to open it fully once the arm rests are installed. While the back of the trunk lid use to make a flat shelf when open...useful for setting stuff on while loading, it is now slope back and a little more of a hassle.
