My 24K is coming up and looking for some assistance, some time in Jan would be great. I have done a 6 K service and looking for instructions and mentoring for 12K. I do have mech skills and have turned wrenches before. Dave Dragon mentored me through 6K. I live in Louisiana but am willing to ride for session.

Thanks

I loves doing tech sessions. I met a feller at LoneStar that wants to do shocks (of course I can't remember his name) and if anyone else wants to do something, we can do it.

That'd be Jerry Miller, aka JMMRoad, from up in Georgetown.

Although I can't argue w/ the eats at Grif's casa, I'll throw out that I have a lift and tools oh plenty in the workshop. Would be happy to host and throw some ribs on the barbie. Otherwise, Grif - warn Sandy she needs to go ding your truck, err, sorry, go shopping ;) :D.

tween Christmas and New Years? or is that just too busy? The wife could make the trip with me. Or sometime in Jan would work also. Just say when!

I don't have a prob twixt Christmas and January, it just may be a leetle cold. I reckon if y'all start throwing dates out, one of us will be able to accommodate.

As usual I'll be showing up wherever it happens but I'm booked twixt now and 06. Before spring arrives I need to be pulling my Ohlins off for a recharge but I need a lot of space plus some spotters.;) Might be I'll just leave the bike unsprung if I can get a good turn-around on the charge.

Hey, maybe we could do the first session at Grifs 'cause it is the historical location for Central Tejas Technovations. Weather wouldn't be much a problem since the greenhouse has heat!:p Then the next weekend we could head to Dripping Springs for my springing. Start early in the AM, head up during the late morning to Austin for the recharge while others play at LS and then back to Richard's for vittles and putting Angel back together. Ya, sounds like a plan that works well for me. Plenty of fellowship, food and fixing.:D

Hey, Edgar --- whatcha might wanna do is take my extra OEM set with ya and in case you don't get a quick turn-around on your Ohlins, you can still git on the road in the meantime. Are you having your Ohlins rebuilt, or just re-gassed?

You have an extra set also? I've got my OEMs but they had 48K on them and were dead when I took em off the 2000. I sold the set from the 03 to Muns and he just retired them. You're right for sure. Having another set around would be a good idea; I just hate messing with that front one too many times.

I think this summer I'm gonna git hold of Kellenbenz and get the scoop on where he sent his OEMs for rebuilding. Seems like it wuz up north - maybe even across the border, IIRC (or wrongly). Be nice to have an extra set in full condition.

I forgot to answer yer second question. I'm planning on following Grif's lead and recharging them suckers in Austin. I've got between 35 and 40K on them and figure a good recharge is all they need. I've thought about rebuilding the OEMs but IIRC it is still an expensive job and the springs aren't beefed up like my Ohlins.I think this summer I'm gonna git hold of Kellenbenz and get the scoop on where he sent his OEMs for rebuilding. Edgar, I have a hydraulic engine lift I can bring to hold your baby "unsprung"... Just let me know and I'll bring it. I'm off 'till '06 and can probably work it in.

Hi guys, 'member me?

I don't want to work next to Edgar when he's pullin' his shocks off. His bike get's pretty jumpy when he's workin on her shocks.

I'd like to meet up for the wrenchin' though. Just pulled the skin and checked the valves for the 24k. While the skin was off, I noticed oil, well mostly dirt stuck on the front of the engine, glued on by motor oil. Also, an ooze of the pesky stuff had made it's way to the bottom of the engine and was slowly making the jump over to the cat. Holy schmoke catfish, somethin' is burnin'. Not enough to require adding a quart between changes, or drip on the concrete, just enough to be an irritant, smell when burning on the cat, and stick every dirt particle that passes within yards.

So, I was hoping that I could pull the collective brain trust together, stand and look at the motor, scratch heads, pick fleas, and figure where that pesky ooze is bubblin from. Also need to stick some new sparkle plugs in her, while she's skinless.

I can't make it until after New Years weekend, but January is pretty much all open, so, what say ye, bros?

Can we go ahead and nail down Jan 6,7 for session. We are going to NC for Christmas and thought the wife would like to ride while she is out of school, but she is dragging her feet.

I think it's about 8 hours to San Antonio for me, so i'll come over the day before and probably stay the night after and roll home. so if you could let me know location i'll set up res for stay.
Thanks

Ed, I still have the front'un I bought from you. I never put it on the old scoot. Once I got the back on she was all good. If you want it back let me know. I still have my old back one, too, but it was leaking oil. Maybe it can be fixed. I don't know. I could prolly get away in January if the weather and timing were good.
