For the second time I have owned the bike I have run out of gas. Embarassing. The computer still said that I had 130 miles till empty and I have never had a low fuel light come on. Has anyone had this problem before and what was done to fix it?

Thanks,
Paul

Could be a dent in the fuel sender tube. Same problem I had. Mine looked like it was caused by the fuel pump nozzle hitting the sender tube during fill-ups by the PO. Lots of dings and dents in it. I removed it by slowly rounding it out from the inside with a carpenters square:

I had a faulty fuel guage when taking private pilot lessons a few years back. Ended up landing in a farmers bean field. Not crashing. Had 3 hours solo at the time.
The only other "running out of gas" time was on my old Venture Royal. Bike quit about 10 feet fron the gas pumps.
Better on the ground than in the air.
I use both the trip odometer and fuel guage as a guide

2000 K1200LTAnother cause would be to have a clogged canister creating a vacuum in the gas tank. It literally causes the gas tank to suck into itself and crush the sender. Do you get a "whooshing" sound when you open your gas tank?
