This is the same June trip we did last year, and it is a great ride.
When: Leave Saturday, June 21 to Return Sunday June 22
Where: Annual Death Valley Run
What: Leave Saturday morning 8:30am from Fair Oaks.
Highway 50 to Highway 49 -- take a left at Plymouth, through the Shenendoah Valley and then through Omo Ranch to Highway 88, then Highway 89 through Markleeville and up over the Monitor Pass. Take 395 South past Mono Lake and lunch in Lee Vining. After lunch we head down 395 through Bishop, take a left turn at Lone Pine and head across Death Valley. After crossing the Valley we turn North and spend the night in Amargosa Valley. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g29719-d119423-Reviews-Longstreet_Inn_and_Casino-Amargosa_Valley_Nevada.html
Next morning we head North on 95 through Beatty, through Beatty and Goldmine and North to Tonapah, then West on 6 to Benton, 120 West back to Lee Vining and then through Yosemite and back home on 49. Arrive home (in Sacramento) around 6-7pm on Sunday evening.
(thinking of making one change -- anyone have any thoughts about taking Silver Peak Road West/265 North to 6 and cutting out Tonapah?)
Last year we had 6 riders. Anyone interested?
