Leaving STC on Sunday morning, I decided to do Deal's Gap one more time. It really is the fastest way north, and I got a late start so I thought it best. I couldn't believe that it was so empty. And that's quite alright with me. ;)

Great Pix!
The day I road it, Killboy's HD crashed for all of that day's photos. Checked with Zee photo, etc. sites and no BMWLT that looked like me :(

That's it? 11 measly miles of twisties followed by a little run back to CleeeeeBland?
Hell, last week I did SoCal to FL, up through TN (didn't bother with the measly Dragon, though I did get a stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway in) then back to CA. 5,500 miles in 5 days and the GT ran just fine the whole way. :)
I thought I saw a blue GT in a pack of four Beemers in Maggie Valley on Thursday the 17th, but no one responded to the LT Wave so I'm not sure if they were STC folks or not.

Looking good, Joe.
When I went through the Dragon on Saturday (on the way home) I did my usual tip-toe routine. US129photos.com and zeephoto.com were there, but Killboy wasn't out yet. He did get me on Thursday, though.
That place and I don't get along too well... as in, it shows me how far I have to go to get my skillz goin'. The good news: practice is fun!

Yeah, I have heard those spec's.... although a long commute, the Twisted Sisters are a decent substitute.... or, perhaps it was just the good company... yeah, that's it...

Lookin' good. I like the color of your GT. The top case is a perfect match.

Yes, I do love the matching paint on the topcase. I don't understand why BMW doesn't have that as an option.

Roman Cycle handled the whole thing for me. They have a painter in Youngstown who did the spraying, but they sent a small piece of my GT's Tupperware to southern Ohio somewhere to get the paint mixed. You'd have to call them and ask what they did exactly. Ask for Rich (the owner) at 330.270.2697. Tell him I sent ya.
Hope this helps.

Ken, we had some folks that rode over to Maggie Valley to Wheels of Time; not sure which day though.
Should have stopped by STC, we wouldn't have thumped you over the head with the Bible or anything!

Hope this helps.I'll bet you a donut that they sent it to Holt BMW in Athens, OH. They have an excellent reputation as a certified Glasurit paint shop. HoLt BMW is the most unlikely-looking little shop, and I'm pleasantly surprised they still hang in there, selling only BMW bikes. (Although the tire I bought from them last spring probably kept their lights on for a couple of months... )

I saw you Thursday afternoon in Maggie Valley. I was with 3 LTs and was on a silver RT. I saw the CA plates and figured you guys would be stopping at the Ironhorse. (didn't know it was you) It looked like you were giving the LT wave to your riding partner at the stop light...

Why would Ken stop at the Iron Horse? He's usually too busy chasing after some IBA cert as to give himself more worth, followed by the usual boasting and condescending remarks.

Hey Joe,
I think number 2 from Zee Photo is the best shot. But you know what they say about opinions.....

(didn't know it was you) It looked like you were giving the LT wave to your riding partner at the stop light...I figured it was some of the STC guys. I thought the wave might get a response, but instead you guys just looked confused. Or was it bemused? Hard to tell behind those helmets. :)
My original plan was to drop in to STC to say hi, but we were delayed in Charleston waiting for a replacement mirror for Ted's LT (which never arrived). That put us several hours behind schedule so we had to forgo the meet and greet. :( Maybe next time.

Should have stopped by STC, we wouldn't have thumped you over the head with the Bible or anything! :eek:That's OK, bibles just bounce right off me with hardly a notice. :) I wanted to stop by, but needed to be on the other side of the Great Smoky Mountains Park before 6 p.m. to get a National Parks stamp. Unfortunately, that also meant that we had to forgo the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway, which I remembered being a blast from CCR Gatlinburg. Too bad, as I really wanted those KillBoy pics to validate my existence as a "real" biker. ;)
Why would Ken stop at the Iron Horse? He's usually too busy chasing after some IBA cert as to give himself more worth, followed by the usual boasting and condescending remarks. As opposed to starting a new thread just to boast about being able to corner at 5 mph? The defense rests. :p
