I went with some guys (40) from Advrider on the Missouri Swinging Bridges Ride Saturday. I could not stay over and ride back Sunday.
My first time back on gravel, and dirt, and crossing streams in 35 years....
The GS ran great. I noticed most of the other riders were on 650 cc or less though.
Here are a few pics. By the way, me or my GS is not in any of the pics...
Just the guys behind me.............

It was a total blast. I used to ride in HS (Kawasaki 175 dirt bike) Off road every day after school. It was a little different w/ 1100 vs 175, but soooo much fun. Almost went 300 mi. First 1/2 on gravel 8 hrs, second half getting back home on the highway, 2 & 1/2 hrs..

Looks like a great ride.

The GS goes places that the 650's fear to tread.

Take a couple of training classes if you can and you'll be amazed what the GS is capable of, but a motocross bike it aint.

Doug, judging from your avatar, looks like the front wheel may be a little light?? :D

I'll have to look in to it. (course)
I have not heard of any off road courses here in MO..
One thing I did come away with from conversations with other riders Sat.
Several of them owned GSs, but took the 400cc or 650cc bike on this ride.
What do they have the GS for? Just for Alaska trips?
I wonder what % of GS owners get their bikes off road?
