I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who made this past long weekend such a great time. It was good to see many familiar faces and old friends, and to make some new friends.

In particular, I want to thank (in no certain order)

Don Norwood, for coordinating and riding herd on the event. Don, you made it possible! I also appreciate the discount you arranged with Tellico Motorcycle Outfitters. I wore my new hi-viz vest home, loud and proud.
John Zeiler, for giving me a one-on-one Tech Session. I now feel totally qualified... to change my own oil! :o John, I even went to Wal-Mart today and bought that special funnel thingie we used to add oil to the LT. A bargain at $3.67. If anyone is curious, it's called the FloTool Measu-Funnel, by Hopkins Manufacturing Corporation, part # 10704 (and made in the USA!).
Glen Hinegardner, for riding down with us from Ohio, helping with my oil change, and riding around with us on Thursday.
Rob Van Brunt, for the offers of help and for being a great riding companion. I'm looking forward to your pictures and/or videos of all of us on the Cherohala Skyway on Friday, Rob.
John and Frannie Diehl, for completing our entourage from Ohio and showing us the Bald River Falls near Tellico Plains. Awesome! Also, for letting me try out your BMW tall shield. It was a refreshing change from the Cee Bailey I've been using.
Joe Paulsey, for being a great room mate again. Joe, you rescued me from the Bunk House. Thanks. And thanks for the tips on packing; I'll do better next time. Sorry I missed your performance Sunday morning.
Dave Dragon, for the riding/safety tips I pick up when we talk. They may seem obvious to you, but much of it is new to me and it makes me think. Thanks also for the daily posts from STC!
John and Charlene, owners of the Iron Horse Motorcycle Resort. What great people.
My laptop has been dying a slow death recently. One of the LCD screen hinges is broken, the CD drive is kaput, and now the internal media card reader is not responding. When I replace this dinosaur with something new I'll be able to post the video clips and photos I took. John, Rob, and Glen: I'll send you a CD with all of that stuff on it if you'll PM your mailing address.

If you're interested, there are a ton of photos of all you guys on killboy.com, us129photos.com, and zeephoto.com.

Thanks, everybody. Hope to see you all soon.

I recognized two of our members right away. Dave Dragon and Pastor Jack are on page 1 under touring bikes. It took some digging, but I found myself on pages 7&8 under cars - trucks.

It was great meeting more of our members and putting faces with names. Even though I wasn't riding due to upcoming knee surgery (tomorrow!), I had a great time. Looking forward to the fall reunion. I should be riding by then.

Howard,

Thank you for attending STC, good to see you again and bringing down the crew from Ohio...

Keep the dates open in October and same weekend next spring...

Talk with the guy over in Tellico today too, he was happy with the crowd of riders he had stop in this weekend for gear and ice cream as well..

Until later....

Mike, you're welcome. Glad to do it. I hope it saved you a few miles. We'll have to discuss particulars in a few months, but if you and/or Jack are going to SMFR in Oct., I'd like to ride up that way with you.

Don, it was great to meet you. I enjoyed shooting the breeze and look forward to seeing you in the fall.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes for my knee surgery. Being at STC for the weekend got me "out of the box".

Arrived at the Surgery Center, met my nurse, my anesthesiologist, and spoke with my doctor/surgeon. All the connections were made. The anesthesiologist said he was giving me something so I wouldn't be concerned about what they were doing or going to do. After about 10 second, if that long, I wouldn't have resisted or felt a brick to the head. Maybe they did that too. I had asked for a nerve block, never saw it coming, but before they wheeled me to the surgical suite, my leg was numb. I believe I was told it would wear off in 12-18 hours, but here it is better than 24 hours later and it's still working its magic. Since I received the nerve block, I'm wearing a foam/fabric/velcro cuff with metal supports to keep the knee from bending. The list of instructions says that my doctor's "preference is not to brace knees after ACL surgery. The brace should be used on the first day of surgery only." Maybe I shouldn't have left it on overnight. Oops! I was out of it all day, only waking up around 7:30pm until 5:30 this morning. Napped from 5:30 to 8:45, so maybe I can get some sleep tonight.

Thanks to all for your prayer, thoughts, and concern. They were truly appreciated!!

glad to hear everything went well with the surgery, just need to take it easy now and follow Dr. orders. Demerol is a wonderful drug is it not.

Mike, I don't know what they gave me. Seems like that's what they said they were putting in the IV. Whatever it was, it was definitely groggy-time, followed shortly thereafter by lights out.

Joe, I enjoyed meeting you and our conversations. You did a great job bending those guitar strings Sunday morning. I look forward to seeing you in Oct. Thanks for the prayers, sir!

I can't thank you guys enough for the hospitality shown to Franny and I. This was nothing short of a fairy tale weekend. I had my best girl on the back, the weather was Chamber of Commerce ordered, the trees and flowers were popping, no crowds on the Dragon or the Cherohala, sitting on the back porch by a stream among the Mountain Laurel, eating some of the best B-B-Q in the nation and best of all I didn't get a ticket for my blue lights. But be aware, I am still on patrol!

Thanks gang,

John and Frances Diehl

I'm told that Lynn Keen made it to STC, without Janet, and with a leaky tent. He won't tell me, so I'll ask y'all: who did he run into this year ??? :rotf:

Not feeling real great right now, Brett - arthritis kicking up bad. Will try to make the first bike outing this year at the Ga. Mtn. Rally. Glad to hear you guys had a good time at STC.

Had a great time Bob, but I (for one) missed you. Maybe I'll see ya this year yet.

Make sure to checkout Jack's thread regarding Lynn's adventure. ;)
