Ok need some honest answers here  I have a 05 LT and am considering trading it in on an 08 RT. The wife likes to ride as well and is worried it wont be as comfy as the LT for here. Any thoughts would be welcome

Greetings!

Just traded an '06 LT for an '08 RT. Guess what my answer is? Anyway, for me, two-up riding wasn't the primary consideration any longer. If it was, the LT "might" still be in my garage. FWIW, my Bride DID go for a test ride on an RT when we were considering the LT. From what I've read, the LT is the normal answer for two-up riding. For me, I loving my RT. It's just right, period. Good luck on your decision. (I'm betting once you ride the RT...)

Cheers!

For two up long distance, the LT is the choice.
RT is nice one-up and very light and agile.

My wife doesn't ride with me often and I wanted lighter.

A test ride should tell you what you are looking to find out.

RT gets +1 for maintenance ease/accessibility.
RT gets +1 for ESA.
RT gets +1 for weight.

Just about everything else is taste and preference.

My wife says the R12RT has more wind blast for the passenger than my old R11RT. Also says the seat still sucks (but she likes the heat). She'd also like lower pegs. Now for me, Other than sex I couldn't think of anything I'd rather be doing than riding my RT. The seat could be better but other than that I couldn't want anything more. :bmw:

We rode an '07 RT for two weeks last October, and although my wife didn't think it was as comfortable as the 'Truck', did come to appreciate the RT's lighter weight and more dynamic riding position. We were blasting around twisty French roads at the time, so I'd say if you're planning sedate touring go with the LT, if you're peg draggin' the RT.

I like the RT so much, at some point I think I'll move from an LT and a GS to an RT alone.

Just buy a good used RT and keep both motorcycles. That's what I did after the wife sat on an LT and decided that's what she wanted to ride on. After telling her it's great for two-up but not so good for in-city one-up riding and that I'd need to buy another motorcycle and maybe we should just compromise on the RT ... she said "OK, buy two". Now I'm a lot happier! :D

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I think for now she wants to stick with the LT but if she finds riding not that enjoyable anymore I have the OK to get the RT. I do like the idea of getting both and may look into that once I payoff the LT:)
