I left the Casa at 08:00am and arrived at the IronHorse at 17:00; didn't find a soul around so I rode over and did the Gap, had it all to my self for the first time ever.

Left there and headed to Robbinsville to gas up, grab a sandwich and some Mt Dew's and headed back to the IronHorse.

Doug Hines arrived at the same time I did on his R1200GS, he rode in from Arkansas.

On 143 from Robbinsville back to 28, I passed a poke along white Ford SUV and no sooner had I passed him, I got to me Sheriff Moody of this lovely County.

He walked up to the GS as I stepped off of it and he held out his hand to shake mine. He introduced himself & I did the same.

He said "You are gonna take it easy aren't you?" to which I sounded off with a Yes Sir!
He climbed back in the SUV and and turned into the next driveway that I passed.

Damn nice fellow!

Had some snow on 28 between Franklin and here and it's a mite nippy, the warm fire here in the club house is cozy.

I managed to drag both Micatech Cases on Deals Gap, matching set and all...

More to follow!

From Stecoah toward Deals Gap has new Asphalt Patches.
They cover about half a lane in width and are anywhere from 20 to 100 feet long.
Smooth transitions but some gravel as well.

I'm told there is a lot of LEO coverage between Knoxville & here.I'll have the Valentine One in double super-duper maximum overdrive Dave. I'll most likely be leading the pak-o-bucks to the Iron Horse. I'll try to keep my posse outta trouble. ;)

See ya tonight.

Too bad I will be in South Carolina this weekend! The wife and I would have caged down for a visit if home. We are only 30 miles from Gatlinburg, just a hop and skip over the hill. We already had previous plans to visit family in Columbia, leaving Friday morning. :(

Well I am here at work just a few hours before leaving for Irohnorse.

As with the rest, I am chomping at the bits to leave.

See you all in a little while.

Will make a quick run through the Gap; keep the LEO's away!

keep the LEO's away! When you take a look at www.tailofthedragon.com (http://www.tailofthedragon.com), according to them both TN and NC have received additional 2008 Federal funding for stepped up enforcement in the Deal's Gap area. Based upon what happened last year, the LEO stops went far beyond speed enforcement and bordered on harassment, such as being cited for not being able to prove your sunglasses were impact resistant, of all things. When I read that, I printed off a page from Oakley's website, so bring it on! :p Everybody ride safe and keep an eye out!

They are worse than the Constables in Texas!

I hope that I will be able to see around the corners when riding through the Gap here this afternoon

Just got back from a nice 200+ mile ride through these beautiful hills.

Two LEO's on 28 around Fontana
Two Tennessee LEO's on the Gap
One LEO on 129 down by the Calderwood Dam

And this is just Wednesday!

I went down to the Gravel-Hala and did about 10 miles and ran smack into an organized Youth Horse Ride with 50+ horses and kids so I shut off till they were 100 yards away and cranked up and turned around back to the paved road.

I take no chances around Horses on narrow gravel roads, with kids riding no less.

I do the Gravel-Hala another day.
