I'm planning a trip soon, going from New York City to Kansas City, through West Virginia and Kentucky. I'm OK getting though Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia, but need help on good east-west routes through West Virginia, Kentucky and Missouri, avoiding interstates as much as possible. Also looking for a good route back, perhaps going on a more northerly route. Any local advice would be appreciated.

Start with US Hwy 50 as your base route, to the South is US HWY 60, both EAST to WEST, from those you can pick your by ways and parkways....
