Hey, I'm a poet.

A month ago, I tore or strained my left ACL doing throws in my karate class. My doctor sent me to the specialist, who sent me for an MRI. I don't know the extent of the injury because the (insert various expletives here) orthopedist's office won't return a phone call for a follow-up visit. Calling to give people money and they won't take it. Geez!

Several times I had gone into my garage and sat on the bike, wondering how it would feel. Not too good, I decided. Yesterday, the knee didn't seem to mind being bent with the foot on the peg. I attempted a short ride, but the knee just wasn't up to it. The left peg felt as if it were 2-3 inches above the right. I made it 3 miles before turning around and heading for the barn.

I don't believe anything, short of a miracle, is going to allow me to ride to STC. I'm not ruling out a miracle, as I know they can happen, but I don't expect one. Ya'll won't laugh at me too loudly if I come in the cage will you?
Hey! I'm in pain here! Well, not so much anymore. Only after shortened range of motion is exceeded.

See you next week.

Come on down Lee, we would rather have you in a cage than not at all. I have had knee problems and in view of your situation I think you made the right choice. Live to ride another day.

After all, the people and the prime rib are worth the trip!

What oil did you run in the knee before it seized up on you? Organic or Synthetic? Maybe the oil manufacturer has a warranty on that? LOL

Hi, John. The thought of dodging STC hadn't crossed my mind. Having never been, it looks like a great weekend from what I've read.

Andy, I'm not sure of the type of oil I was running when the part seized. The Mechanic put in whatever He had on the Shelf. I don't think I'll be able to make a warranty claim. It appears to have been operator error.

I can only guarantee that there will be laughter, and lots of it. At your expense, at MY expense, and so on. No stone shall be left unturned! :D

Look forward to seeing you next week. :)

Hey Lee,

Hang in there. I have had both ACL's replaced and was riding soon after surgery but couldn't even put weight on my leg before the surgery. After surgery I rode with a brace for a while just for piece of mind. Good luck and hope to see you at STC.

Charlie

Lee, come on to STC in CAGE!

My last time I was in my Truck, ... this was due to my knee, before my total knee replacement.

As I expected I might be. Not a problem. From the replies, it appears I'm not alone in knee difficulties. I finally got a returned phone call from my orthopedist's office. Not the doctor, of course, but his PA. He tells me I completely tore the ACL, which is what the doctor expected. He also said I have torn the radial(I think) meniscus. Since I had the meniscus repaired in 2002, I wonder if that is what appeared on the MRI looking like damage. I have an appt. Wed. morning, so we'll see what develops. Pain is all but gone, but the knee feels like it may buckle occasionally.

Go figure. Lee wants to ride, but can't. Steve wishes he knew how to ride a bike, and shouldn't! But that never stopped him before. :rotf:
