intercom problem

I have the factory system on my 2000 K1200lt and have the j&m speakers and microphone in my helment. I purchased a IMC BMW BHS-10 kit for my wifes helment and the music portion plays perfect on both helments. The problem is that we cant communicate on the intercom. I followed the BMW setup for vox and nothing seems to work when we talk. Any ideas out there as to what is the problem?
