I am planning on tying in the 2610 into the com system . My 02 LT came set up with the Nav I. Any knowledge on tying in the 2610 to the existing system with the SP III ? I have the garmin power/audio cable for the 2610. It appears I should tie the audio cable into the SP III audio cable. I am concerned about splicing into the sp audio cable and should the audio wires be soldered ? Ant recommendations for a power source under the nose cone, preferably hot at all times?

The best place to tie in for power up front is the map light. It easily pries out and zare are ze wires zat you need. (The brown one's ground. :) ) That's hot all the time, until you turn the ignition all the way to OFF. I think that the audio connections for the SPIII and the 2610 are identical. Perhaps someone will chime-in and verify.
As for "to solder or not to solder"...you're asking the wrong guy. I solder, dielectric, then shrink-tube EVERYTHING! But I'm just anal like dat. :p

The nav I setup does not have the light. The mounting bracket is in place of the light. I will try to locate the wires previously used for the light. I like the idea of all power off with the key at full lock. Now for the audio tie in I may be able to piggyback the plug from the nav I.
Thanks , Pete
