Tire Replacement, wheel removal

I'm sure this has been posted and answered, but I did not find it searching..
I was going to take the wheels of my LT to save a few $$ on the tire swap.
Anything particularly tricky about removing & replacing the wheels.
I've never taken them off the LT, my concern is ABS..

Jeff, That's an easy job.
Rear : put bike in gear remove 2 screws on lic plate. Then the 5 lug bolts and roll the rear wheel out. look for the wheel spacer ( looks like a large washer)so not to loose it.


front : put a small jack under the engine to raise frt wheel. remove fender, 4 bolts 2 on top and 1 on each side then there are 2 locking bolts(1 on each fork) to remove. unbolt the 2 calipers (2 bolts each) Remove axle shaft, 1 bolt on 1 side then pull axle out. With a screwdriver spread the brake pads out to give you room to clear rotors and remove wheel.

When you put it back together be sure to pump your front brakes up a few times to push the pads back out before you go for a ride

+1. I would suggest to first remove the rear wheel and then the front. It will be helpful to put the bike in gear before you try to remove the 5 bolts of the rear wheel.

Remember that the ABS ring is on the left side of the front wheel and tell the technician so he can mount the tire in the correct rotational direction. That can avoid the frustration of having to re-mount the tire.

Just did it last week-end.

Piece of cake except the rear lugs are really tight. The tighten up torque is 76 ft. lbs/

There are also values for the front brake calipers, pinch screws and the left axle hub.

I'd follow the values (pdf file in files menu on this site) so them round things don't come off go'in down the byways!

Took my rims one at a time to a local multi-brand dealer near work recommended by Messenger 13. $25 plus tax ($1.50 disposal fee also) :dance: :dance: :dance:

One of the easiest bikes i have ever done. One little trick for the front calipers is after you unbolt them rock them back and forth slowly to compress the pads, as they compress you will be able to just lift the calipers off. Make sure no body touches the brake lever or pedal.
