Just moved into the Greensboro area last month. Originally from MD.

Are there any groups rides/socials etc. in the Greensboro/Winston-Salem areas?

Welcome! I also like Carolina BMW. GReat thing is that Richard there has been very helpful in saving me money on maintenance by telling me the shortcuts and what to do myself.

As for social groups, good luck. Seems like NC doesn't have much cohesive BMW community. Mostly Harleys (cruisers) and sportbike types. May be better down around GSO though.

If you get up around Mount Airy, give a shout.

Welcome to the area Rick. Just moved here a couple years ago myself. Like it very much. I'm not an extreme socialite, so I don't know what all's out there as far as clubs and such. But, keep monitoring here for Tuesday bike nites in Statesville, STC (in 3 weeks), tech sessions, short rides up on the Parkway and in the mountains, etc.

See ya around,

Welcome to NC Rick. Not very many groups in NC but we're out here. Check the tech sessions out if you can and meet a lot of great folks. You will enjoy the weather too! Carolina BMW will treat you right.

Hey Rick,

Just thinking out loud here, but you might want to update your profile to show you in NC now and not Ellicott City, MD. :D

Oh yeah, welcome to the South.

Thanks all for the input.

Looking forward to meeting some of you.

So far I love the area. Now I can ride some of the best roads in the country and still be home before dark!

Hey Rick,

Welcome to Oak Ridge! I'm in Oak Ridge too. Not sure how familiar you are with the area, but I'm right off of Bunch Rd. Let me know if you'd like to meet and or ride sometime.

Here's a group you might be interested in, they are called the Triad Riders and I think they ride the first Sunday of the month and they meet up in Greensboro. Here's a link if you are interested.

Brian,

Not too familiar with Oak Ridge....yet.

I have not made it to that side of Oak Ridge, considering the size of Oak Ridge, it maybe a few months :)

I am off of Willard on the South Side.

Definitely would like to meet up and ride!

PM me and I will send you my email address.

Just moved into the Greensboro area last month. You lucky son-of-a- . . . . . . GUN!!! :p Actually, I'm always happy to see a snowbird escape this HELL HOLE that's called the north. This crap is way over-rated up here.

Probably a very busy time for you, but you really should try to make it to STC (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29674). A great time, at a great place, with great folks. And...I'll be there too. :D :D :D

Not quite 100% out of the snow zone, but A LOT BETTER!

I should be able to make it for the last day of STC. Work will prevent me from making it down there for the first couple of days.

New house, new job.... no vacation time and not much play time:(

Huh? Y'all had me goin' for a minute there, implying that Oak Ridge was something the size of Dallas/Fort Worth. My best friend and my goddaughter lived in Oak Ridge for about 15 years and it hasn't been more than six years or so that you all got your first real grocery store. An errant punt at a Friday night ORMA football game could land in the biggest intersection in Oak Ridge. I still pass through regularly as it is between my place at the beach and place in the mountains. You are both lucky to be living in a really neat area.

BTW, if you find you'd like to stretch your legs a little beyond the triad Coast Carolina BMW MOA meets regularly in Wilmington NC.

Being a Marylander for 46 years, a trip to the coast to buy crabs will be a necessity.

I know NC is a major producer, I just need to find a place to buy them, preferably live.

How are the roads down there in the summer. Overcrowded?

I have a lot of exploring to do.
