Guys - I haven't visited the site in a while. How's everyone doing?

I need some help planning a trip out to Los Angeles. Right now I'm concerned with routing for the way out. I'll deal with routing my way back in a month or so.
* I'm leaving Atlanta in a week or so.
* I've got 10 weeks to do a full loop out to the west coast and back home so time is not really an issue.
* I'd like to stay anywhere in the area in between I-40 and I-10 on the way out. However, if there is some amazying riding just north of I-40 please included that also.
* I'd like to avoid interstates as much as possible and try to stay on scenic and or twisty highways.
* I'd like to check out attractions and your "favorite rides" along the way.

Can you please help with routing, side trips, suggestions, etc? Quite a few of you have done this same trip so your input is very valuable to me.

Thanks in advance for your help!
Marc

Hey Marc, how've you been my friend? I don't know about you...and I'm sure several will chime in with some great route suggestions...but I would be tempted to take in at least a little of Route 66 (http://www.national66.com/). Pick it up somewhere around Oklahoma City or thereabouts. Also, there is an interesting site here (http://www.historic66.com/gps/garmin/) with downloadable Garmin routes using Route 66 along with off route options that appear useful.

Hey Man, how it going....

That sounds like a good time frame for a great loop...

OK here goes...

Point bike in Western direction... twist throttle and go!:)

You got a Street and Trips Version? I think I saved my Southern route out from a few years back...

Guys - good to hear from you all.
Al - I was planning on following some parts of the old Route 66. Thanks for the links and info.
Don - I just got your email with the NZ and Australia trip pics - wow! Nice time... I don't have a Street and Trips version. Is that routing / mapping software? Is it something I can download? I'm loading up my Garmin software on to my notebook pc that I'm bringing along for the ride.
Bill - I've got a feeling I'm going to put on some weight during this trip...
Thanks,
Marc
