Also posted on South Central forum, but I know he has a lot of friends in Norcal...

Greg went down while bicycling on a country road outside Boerne, Texas, yesterday. He lost traction on a curve and hit the ground pretty hard. A passerby took Greg and bike home, where he thought he could tough it out, but it became obvious it was more serious. Marcia was out of town, so Kathy and I took Greg to the ER about an hour after it happened - besides road rash (knee, hand, shoulder), he has a separated shoulder and a partially-collapsed lung. The trauma doc put a tube in his chest to reinflate the lung and kept him for the night. Marcia drove in about 7:30 last evening and took over the "vigil." He should be home today, hurting but otherwise surviving.

If ya know Greg, drop him a PM at GHSmith54.

Greg,

Sorry to hear about you spill.

It's sounds like you are in pain. I'm glad to hear that Dave made you go to the ER were they know all about pain.

Take care of yourself and heal fast.

Sorry to hear about Greg's accident. That's almost as banged up as he was when he went down on his Ducati years ago!

Get well soon, buddy.

Greg is being discharged as I write this. The doc found a fractured rib, the probable cause of the collapsed lung, and kept him a second night in the hospital.

Greg is just shy of completing a goal of 12,000 miles pedaled in 2005. Not being able to finish that is his greatest disappointment.
