I had a very interesting Saturday! I have had my 2006 K1200LT for sale on consignment since the beginning of February at Morton's BMW in Fredericksburg, VA. It began to look like a sale of the LT was not in the cards, so my wife and I decided to go pick it up and maybe try again next year. As we were preparing to walk out the door, Steve Anderson, sales manager, called to tell me that my LT was SOLD!!! (Thank you Stephanie!!!) So, we made the drive to Fredericksburg to finish things up and take a test ride on an RT. After a nice test ride, I made a deal on their last non-demo '07 RT!!! (Thank you Jeff Dunkle!!!) It's Titan Silver with ABS, OBC, heated grips and seat, cruise control, the 49L top case and tank bag. Jeff even stayed over an hour past closing time to deliver the bike so the Marcella and I could take a ride to Williamsburg on Sunday!!! Great service from Morton's BMW! :D :D

Congratulations! The first thing I would suggest you do is to get one of these:

That's a good looking shield. This actually is one of the first mods I'm planning. I thought about the Vstream, but this looks good too... Thanks for the suggestion!

Welcome to the league of R12RT owners! +1 on the VTechnik shield, by the way -- it is absolutely wonderful.

Let me know if you're in my area -- not far away!

Having owned everyone of the windshields for my 06 1200 RT, I found the best shield to be the Aeroflow.

A bit more expensive but your pillion will thank you. It is in my humble opinion the most effective for your passenger. I will also tell you it is so good that in the summer you won't get enough airflow. So, the best of both worlds is to buy the Aeroflow for 3 seasons and when it gets hot, go with the Cee Bailey for summer.

Congratulations on your purchase. You'll both love it!

I think windshield choice is second only to oil, in the # of different opinions! In any case, almost ANY windshield will be better than the POS that comes from Munich!

Hey Michael, I'm about 100 miles south of D.C. I do ride up 301 occaisionally to visit Bob's BMW. Especially on open house days.

Another fine alternative is the Cee Bailey R1200RT windshield:

It's available in any height or width you would want.

And, yes, if you are tall the stock windshield sucks.

Yes, a good friend lives in Richmond and I ride over to see him occasionally. I live about 10 miles west of DC, and 33 miles from Bob's. Maybe I'll see you at an open house!
