Gun in the car confusing.

Saw this on the news tonight. I guess in Florida it is illegal to store a gun in your vehicle while you work, but it is ok if you are in the vehicle. If you store your gun the car while you work, you must have a CCW permit. Does that make sense??? It does not for me.

Actually it's kinda simple, I think.
We have been following it at the Office kinda close.

Last years bill floundered, It did not require the Owner to have a CWP.

This Bill Requires the CWP and is gaining some momentum.

Not all business are against such a law; we just need clear guidelines.

I look at it this way:
I ride to the Bank, Bar, Casino, Post Office, Airport, Any Government Building or Facility; The Gun is locked away securely and I'm in compliance with existing Law.

My Office should be No Different.

Yep. The laws are basically designed to trip you up so they can revoke it. And of course once you've lost it, you won't ever get it back (unless you're very wealthy and want to play the game to the tune of $20k or so) and as a bonus you will have an "illegal weapons" charge on your record, which of course, makes you EXTREMELY employable...... :rolleyes:
In CT you cannot carry in a Government building (school, post office, Library, Town Hall, etc. etc.), you cannont carrry where alcohol is being consumed, you cannot carry in non-Government buildings where posted (grocery stores, hardware stores, etc.). You cannot leave the weapon in you car, loaded/unloaded, field stripped etc. doesn't matter. You cannot drive with your weapon not on your person. In other words if you are a CCP holder you can drive your car (presuming you are going someplace that is not one of the exlcusions listed) with your pistol concealed on your person, but not in the glovebox/console.
And God forbid you forget and cross the State Line (CT is a very small state so it's VERY easy to do) as MA in particular has a MANDATORY one-year sentence for conviction of carrying an unlicensed weapon.
Basically, even with a CCP you are able to take your weapon to the range, to a 'smith, and keep locked in your home safe (must be stored in a locked safe in CT - even in your home) to be in compliance. There are also a whole lot of laws about what situations you could be in violation for, i.e. if you hear a commotion outside and it's reasonable to expect there to be a violent confrontation, you better not take your gun with you if you go see what is going on - the burden shifts to you, the CCP owner to avoid a potential confrontation, etc etc.

Now, if we could just get those pesky CRIMINALS to not carry to the nightclubs, bars, robberies, drug deals etc. and to wait while I go find my key for my wall safe, take the picture down, open my ammo, load a clip and then get ready for the confrontation......

Real problem is too many people making too many laws. Many times without a good thought process or even a good reason. Then folks like John got to do their part, right, wrong, dumb, unreasonable, whatever. No more common sense amongst us, all been legislated away. We want our government to tell us what to do, when, how and at what pace.

This is a great argument for united states gun permit...

When i jump through all the hoops to get a permit in my state and my state deems me worthy by issuing a carry permit then
suddenly when i cross an invisible line i am a felon ????:confused:

all of the states present laws ...

I wonder what senator we would have to get to help us pass this law ???
