I’m leaving on a cross-country trip in 2 to3 weeks.
Trail, Or. to Wirtz, Va., where my brother lives. Then on to New Canaan, CT and see my sister and mother for a few weeks. After that it will be back to my brother’s place then on to see my oldest son in Austin, Tx. Should be back to Oregon in about 7 to 9 weeks. New rubber and lubricants on the LT, and a new full face flip-up helmet on the ol’ noggin.
The wait for better weather patterns is driving me nuts. I don’t mid rain but I wish Canada would keep their cold fronts to themselves. :)

OK, here's the deal...we'll stop sending you our crisp, clean, invigorating Canadian frigid air when Uncle Sam stops sending us the dump that is coming our way tonight and tomorrow.

Fair's fair.

No, Brian, she's stayin' home, she's still working and can't get that much time off. She might fly to a pick-up point along my final route home and finish the ride with me, if she can get time off.

I'm going I-40 and a few stops 1 night stops long the way at friends and family. The catch 81 up to Virginia. Any route north of that looks like sh-t weather. I don't like riding thru OK, but there are some people I want to see anlong that way.

When Melinda quite work in a year or so, we are going to do coast to coast on US 20. It actually does go from Florance OR to Boston MA. It is a summer time only route.

Will do. My son actually lives in Cedar Park, just outside of Austin. Can't wait to do some riding in the Texas Hill Country and get some authentic Barbeque :stir: again.

Last year about May my wife said "why don't we get a motorcycle". That sounded great to me, so we did. We bought a k1200LT and we were going to ride all the time. Everytime we talked about going for a ride, she ended up having to go to work, cause nobody showed up and she was the boss. It went from good to terrible. Then later on in the year she came to me and said "how about a home base business"? I said "sure, why not". She's done everything else, so she got started. It didn't go good at first, but doing better. Now she said to me last week, "why don't we ride to Washington State?" I just looked at her and said "ya, like I could get off work for that lenght of time". We live in Southern Illinois and she said to me "now who can't get off work to go riding?" I just looked at her and shook my head.
She said "give me a little more time and you won't have to go to work either" I said "hows that"? She just smiled and walked away.

Congratulations Vince, I am sure you will have fun on the ride. We did a similar ride in 2000, from Olympia to Louisiana, Conneticutt, Missouri and home. We were out about 5 weeks and 9000 miles. The trip was in Jul so weather was not an issue.

Enjoy and be blessed!!

Vince - I will probably be tailing you about a month later - headed over to Richmond and then up to West Virginia. I did the trip 3 years ago on a GT and it was gruling; the LT should be much easier to make it on now.

Have fun man!

Well guys, I took off late on 4/12. The weather looked good and turned out to be perfect. Rode to Bakersfield the first day. Then on to Congress AZ. Did a lot of old hwy 66 which made to rip longer but more interesting. Stayed a few day in AZ then left for Oklahoma. Didn't see it coming but I drove right into a blizzard around Chandler. 1 hr at 35mph in blowing snow.

After a few days in Adair OK, I took off for VA. Got an honorable mention ( a written warning) for 80 in a 50 in Memphis. Thank you officer.:thumb:

I'll be a week here in VA and then on to CT.

THE LT IS DYNOMITE!

Way to go Vince! Just watch that speed cause we know you don't want any of those real performance awards.

Good Luck on the remainder of your great journey my friend!

What a trip! :thumb:

I got home to Oregon last weekend from my coast-to-coast. Just over 8,000 miles / 6 weeks.

The ol' gal did herself proud. No problems at all and she now has 88,261 miles on her. Average speed 62.5, average mpg 46.2

One speeding warning in TN, and a performance award in VA.

Only had one heart stopper when a semi almost ran me off the hiway as I passed him. From what I saw as I glanced up at his mirror he was drifting off to sleep.

Can't wait to get back on the road after a full fluid change.
