I just called my dealer. $650.00 for the 12,000 mile service, plus $150.00 for the "annual", is it worth it? I'm always worried that the dealers may not do the work that they are suppose to. If they do everything on the list, its not a bad deal but...I'm on the fence. BTW, my dealer is Blue Moon Cycles in lawenceville Georgia. Any input would be appreciated.

Yes, the 12K service is an important one. You might want to ask if there's any way you can help alleviate the cost of the service (i.e. change your own fluids, remove the Tupperware before bring it in, etc.).
As for Blue Moon, I visited the place when I was down there and they seemed like some pretty cool guys. I do know that you're going to have some die-hard BMW of Atlanta guys tell you that THAT is 'the place' to go down there. And having personal experiences with Bob, the owner, I can't argue too much with that. If I lived in the area, BMW of Atlanta would most likely be my dealer of choice.

Perhaps it's just peace-of-mind for me but I have them stamp the service booklet when they are done. If something goes wrong, my idea is to hang it on them for not doing it right.

FWIW, I paid for the 12K service, and with a new tire, came to about $1,000.00. I did the 24 K myself, for two reasons; to save a little scratch (cost about $150.00 to do it yourself), and to learn my way around the beast.
Your dealer has quoted a pretty fair price, I think.

You can possibly (usually) barter for a better (lower) price from the dealer when the Tupperware is already removed from your ride before taking it in. Most dealers have a "set" price for service performed which usually includes the labor cost with Tupperware removal. The dealer will probably charge you somewhere between 1.0 to 2.0 hours of labor to remove and replace the Tupperware. In my region the going rate is "$100.00" per hour. I usually call for an appointment, barter for the servcie price with Tupperware removed, and trailer my '04 K1200GT in. Las Vegas BMW gets "VERY HIGH" kudos around here for their quality of work and high customer service standards. Last summer I noticed that my coolant was a "little" low, not much, just a tad low. So the next day I stopped by the dealer to buy a gallon. When I went in, the service manager asked if I was a little low or a lot low. I said, a little low. He replied, "I can't see selling you a whole gallon when I can give you a little for free". He went into the service area, grabbed a gallon bottle from one on the work benches and handed it to me. I thanked him politely and went outside. The gallon bottle he handed me was 1/2 full. I know that the cost of a gallon of coolant is only $17.00 but that is what I would call customer service. This is only one example of their attention and committment to their customer base.

you could do it yourself, or you could go to a dealer like Orlando BMW where they quoted me a fee of "a little more then 600" for a 24K service with brake flush, and ended up charging 1397.

I did my own with help checking valves. We did the valves at a tech session. No big deal after you;ve done it. Changing fluids isn't bad, other than the trans drain plug.
Getting to fuel and air filters is a bit of a job, but nothing more than taking apart and reassembling. My dealer said run it by sometime and they will put it in the computer and chek that for free for me.
If you;re so inclined, learn and do the service yourself.

In the middle of doing my 24k service now including installing the updated shift lnkage, drilling the weep hole and performing the canisterectomy. I like my work better than the dealer.
