I have a 05 K12LT . The rider's 12V plug is located next to my left foot . What a pain to plug the Gerbings into  . I want to move the plug to a more usable location. Help .....pictures would be nice  !
Thanks, Mike

I have a 2001 LT.
My Gerbing power cord is hard wired to a CENTECH fuse box.
Cord comes out at the front of the seat.

Also added the BMW 12V accessory kit that has two (2) 12V receptacles:
One (1) on the starboard side, at the wing.
One (1) on the port side next to the existing 12V receptacle and comm connection on the top case.

I also located two USA female power outlets, one at the left wing, one at the left trunk (top box) next to the Europen power outlet and moved the European left wing power outlet to the right side. A connector is already there. It was cheaper than buying an adapter, less hassle than extra wire dangling and I don't have to change any USA male plugs. I used metal covers/plugs to keep dirt out.

I installed one on top of the fairing side panel, just left of the radio pod. Be very careful if you do this as there is less than 1/8" to spare! I love it, very convienient and easy to use. Use 14 guage or at least 16 guage wire direct to battery or extra fuse block.

Hi,

the best place to mount a power socket for the rider 9and hence plugging in your heated clothing) is in the plastic bodywork immediately beneath the button that opens the lid to the stingray. ie. the plug is between your legs, just in front of the saddle.

If you remove that square of plastic, you will see another piece of plastic/metal (I can't remember which when I did it) in which is a direct cut-out for a Hella-type power socket to be installed. If you look at it, it looks to me as though it was put there specifically for this purpose. All you have to do (carefully) is drill a hole through the outer panel making sure it lines up with the cut out below it. then, install your socket, running the wiring the short distance directly to the battery with an in-line fuse....simple!! And very, very easy to use.

Happy riding !!!
