I have a confession to make. I dropped my bike. :o That makes twice. Both times standing still and off of the bike. This time I was putting it on the side stand in my driveway while getting ready to wash it. It is slightly slopped and came up really easy, twisted just a bit, and fell away from me. BOOM!!
Skinned up the chromed plastic strip on the right side bag and broke the right foot rest. And now I also have that familiar custom J-Peg hole in the plastic.
I don't really care about the hole. The chrome can be covered, ignored, replaced at a minimal cost.
The foot rest however is $157. Wow!
So, I've opted to order floorboards from Darius. I could have gotten just the front for $229 by sending a check but I chose to replace front and back for $329.
I'll let everyone know what I think about them once I get them on and have had a chance to ride. Meanwhile I'm stuck with choice of the Vulcan or the Hyabusa. Both are uncomfortable to me. Maybe it will rain and I'll be forced to take the LT apart and add my radar detector.

Bummer, Art. Hawaii must have worn you out. Welcome home.
I'll look forward to seeing the new boards in person.

The other 'busa is not mine but it sits in my shop until the owner reclaims it.
I got the floorboards. They look really nice. The adapter is quality stuff. The floorboards themselves are good looking even if they are made in Taiwan. I got the lowered front versions and they are extremely comfortable but do drag on the tighter turns. On a good note I don't think that the boards themselves will be too expensive to replace once I wear them down. I will need to drill some holes and might even be able to adapt some other type of peg/floorboard should I choose to do so.
Install took about 1 hour. 10 minutes finding the "C" clip that I dropped, 45 minutes to find the ball bearing that I dropped, 3 minutes to clean, and 2 minutes to remove and replace.
As in the other emails about dealing with Darius Kowalski, he was straight up and saved me $$$. I sent him a check and he sent them right out once he received it. It was truly a good experience.
So, there you have it.

Crap, Art I forgot about my "busa" - I'll get over to pick it up soon! What are you going to do about the chrome strip?

The other 'busa is not mine but it sits in my shop until the owner reclaims it.Now I'm familiar with keeping spare tires up that way, but a spare bike? Maybe I should've just put the LT up there so I could fly over the snowy mountain passes and still have two wheels available. :)

I can find room for another LT. ;)

Dacia (the owner) would kick both of our rear ends.
Right now I've not concerned myself with the chrome piece. I suppose I should do something. Maybe just take the Ken route and let it get good and dirty and no one will recognize the flaw in the chrome?

Maybe just take the Ken route and let it get good and dirty and no one will recognize the flaw in the chrome?Or do what I did and get a new bike sans chrome. :) But there's no tip over protection at all, so bummer if you drop it.
