My apologies, i have forgotten the name of the person who wrote the procedure, however, it is excellent, i bled/flushed wheel & control circuits on my 2003 k12lt integral brakes, absolutely no problems, carried out by myself with no assistance.
Absolute swine of a task trying to hold bleed tube in place, as i was working by myself, eventually dumped fluids on floor (dot 4, not personal), as almost impossible to get bleed tubes to remain in situ without assistance.
Also bled/flushed clutch.
Everything appears ok, no delays in abs pump, & clutch appears ok, still to get dealer Moditec readout.
This job is simpler than i first imagined.
Many thanks

Stevie,

I believe I led you to some additional info through a post or two but it was Mark Neblett that first put pen to paper with that procedure. He gave a lot of us early maintainers the confidence to perform this and dissuade the less capable from attempting it.
Glad it worked out for you. The trick is the right size tubing and a dry fitting. I usually use model airplane silicone fuel tubing (have about 30 ft of it). The Speed Bleeder site also has a great bag and tubing for about 6 bucks that works really well.

+1 on the Speed Bleeders. Makes it very fast, and CLEAN!

Snip ...>>>... still to get dealer Moditec readout...<<<

I have bleed / changed the brake fluid in our 2002 K1200LT/Hannigan 2+2 three times now . I haven't had the Moditec readout done yet . There must be a reason for it , like some fault code . But I figure that , the bike is working fine , so why bother .

Besides our rig won't fit thru our dealers door . So to get it in there shop I have to take the sidecar off . Too much work for me , just to see if it has a code in storage . I change the throttle cables & ...paid for it my self ..., even when it was under warranty . Just because of that .

If you know anyone in your area with a GS911 code reader that will fix yopu up. I had Grif read mine and all is A OK ;)

The only reason to get the Moditec Bleed Test (GS-911 will not do this) is to test the system for proper pressure build up and timing. This actually exercises the system rather than just retriving codes. If you did not introduce air during the flush you don't need this. If you did a good job bleeding the system you don't need this. It is just a sanity check that all is well.

I should also add that if you really messed things up you will have a fault light. If you left a tiny bit of air in the system the Moditec Test will find it but if it doesn't set a fault this system will work safely.

Thanks John ...I see now . There is more to it ,... it actually exercises the system rather than just retrieving code.

John
The reason that i intend getting the moditec check & bleed test done by a dealer, is to confirm that no problems exist on the bike, this is due to my doing my own servicing,. a sort of back up to my work!!.
I am perfectly happy with my work, but should i trade in or sell, then it can only help.
Over here in the UK, we do not hold tech sessions etc, its a shame really. but i believe we are thinner on the ground than our North American cousins, hence i am not aware of anyone with diagnostic tools.
When it comes to service costs, yours seem reasonable, when compared to ours, there is a very good dealer 50miles from where i live (Ocean of Plymouth), they charge a fair rate, but as cash is restricted, i have to refrain from using them if i am able to do the work myself, but in fairness to them, they have always been honest & fair. (& no my dad doesnt own the place).

Stevie

Stevie,

By all means, get the check done. I did not intend to convince you otherwise as it is always a good idea to get it done just not an absolute necessity. I have done my system three times but can never get to the dealer on a day when he has time to do it. One of these days I'll get a round to it.
