and just wanted to say goodbye (figuratively, sucker is fast) to those who try to follow and wonder how many others have Turboed a BMW?

I wanted to do the LT kit, but they said they decided that it would not be socially responsible to allow 200 hp touring bikes on public streets. or something like that. I wondered if it was a engineering problem or a product liability insurance issue.

I wondered if it was a engineering problem or a product liability insurance issue.A few years back, they told me that they smoked the clutch in short order on their LT test mule. At the time they claimed to be working on a ceramic clutch, but that never came to fruition. The clutch for the LT is a single 180mm (7") dry disc, for the RS it is 165mm (6.5") - pretty small for anything over the 130hp produced by the RS. Even though the LT has a slightly larger clutch than the RS, the extra 200lbs proved to be too much for the stock clutch even at modest boost levels. They said the clutch seemed to do fine on the lighter RS - as long as the rider made sure it was fully engaged before applying power.

I suspected clutch to be the weak link, but builder claims this one has a ceramic/carbon fiber or some such custom stuff. Seems to work smooth and stock tire was left as the new weak link. Also am concerned about rear drive, u-joints and splines so I had all checked and lubed at the 36K service.

Do not plan to crank up the boost as it is good enough at about 20% but nice to know there is a bunch more if you feel the need. Stay off the throttle and you run negative boost and seems like a stock bike with an attitude. Does not get angry till you crank up the revs and lay on the throttle.

Not a long distance touring machine, but a damn fun unique toy.
