When I bought my new BMW it came with a three year Roadside Assistance program which is about to exspire ,I've never had to use it but like having such a program for when I do need help. Is this a good company to use or are there better choices that I'm not aware of? The cost is only 35 bucks a year which seems like a good bargain.

I had a billing / coverage date issue with them and just gave up. I now use AMA Motow for bike and cars. Only used them once, but no problem at all - so far.

Good luck.

#1 on AMA MO TOW.

I also had CCMC on the 02, and for $35, extended it. Had to use it twice - once under BMW warranty, once later. Good people, responsive, professional, etc.

Progressive Insurance supplies the service for free to policyholders. Happily, I have never had to use it.

You might check the fine print on your policy from Progressive. Their website says they will tow a big bike to the nearest place where it can be repaired. However, they policy says 10 miles.

After I bought it and saw the 10 mile thingy, I checked with two agents and they both said that when they called Progressive they were told it was 10 miles. Both said that Progressive would probably have a problem if I filed a claim based on the information on their website.

I upgraded my AAA to RV Plus anyway and it will cover a tow.

I guess this is the first vote for Cross Country! :thumb: A BIG thumb's UP!!!

When my final drive failed last May in Lovelock, NV, I called CC and they could not have handled it any better. I was so impressed. First, I actually spoke with a living human being when reporting my problem. Then about 5 mins later, an automated call told me that a truck was dispatched and it gave me the phone number of the towing company. I called that number, and sure enough, a truck was already "on the road". They had a truck to me in less than 2 hours. (The guy actually knew how to strap down a BMW ... amazing!) He drove me back to Sparks, NV ... the closet BMW dealership, which was 84 miles away. There was then a follow-up call to make sure everything was cool, and that was that. No extra charges, no 'gotchas'.

If I keep my GT passed the 3-year mark, I will probably continue my relationship with Cross Country Roadside Assistance. I do have Progressive Ins., so I will need to look at my policy more closely with my account rep.

KOA (yes, the campground guys) have a plan that while a bit pricy gets you unlimited miles to a capable repair site. On BMWRT several say they like it. Clickity Click. (http://www.koa.com/rvroadhelp/)

You'll note that it looks underwritten by Allstate...

The BMWMOA has emergency service as an upgrade in their membership fee.

Thanx; good to know and I will check and see if I am covered adequately.

For those of us on the Canadian side of the border the CAA plus; plusRV, or Premier, memberships that you would buy for your cage roadside assistance also provides roadside assistance coverage for a motorcycle at no added cost. All but the Premier will pay for a 160 km. one way tow, (200 km. in some areas) for up to 5 calls a year. The Premier will tow for up to 320 km. one way for one of the 5 calls. This coverage is reciprocal on the US side of the border through AAA.

I have had this coverage for a number of years now. Have used it a number of times for a cage but not yet for my motorcycle. Been riding for years and have never had a roadside breakdown. (that's Beemers for ya! ) Good peace of mind insurance to have tho.

No offense to all, but I'm confused at how many recommendations are submitted in these threads with very few actual experience(s). Do y'all shop by name, price, reputation, or what? Inquiring minds want to know...
