On an earlier thread (asking about which tires folks had tried), some mentioned the Conti Road Attacks as being really good tires. Has anyone tried the Conti Sport Attacks? Do you know of any drawbacks (other than lower treadlife) to using these sport tires on a GT? Any thoughts appreciated.

I have heard they are a great handling tire but the mileage you get from them is unreasonable. If I were doing a track day or something they might be nice. 5-6K is bad enough for a rear tire (road attack)

I just bought a set for mine mainly because I don't like the Metzlers and the Michelin Pilot Road 2s aren't available....and I need a set BAD!!

What i DON'T like about the Metzler Z6 (I think that's what I have) is that is no center tread, and consequently no center wear bars. I wore mine through to the tread. 'Course my problem is I do a lot of highway driving back and forth to work daily.

I'll let ya know how these Conti's work out. I thought I read that they are dual compound and supposed to give good tread life - at least according to the blurb on the SW Moto site.

Yea...that is what I was afraid of. I barely got 7k out of my rear metzeler z6 and just thought I would ask about the sport attacks. Does anytone have anything NEGATIVE to say concerning the ROAD ATTACKS?

I have burned up a couple sets of the road attacks and have not found anything bad about them. I wish they would last longer than they do, but so far the most mileage I have gotten out of the brands tried so far. I hear you may get 10 percent more from the pilot road 2's but they were 20% or more to buy. I have 3 sets of the road attacks in my garage just waiting for their chance to roll on down the road.

My favorite for the GT is still the Avon Storms. They do everything well and get decent mileage to boot.

Though I think I'm gonna run a set of BT021 tires next time, just for comparison's sake.

What kind of mileage are you getting out of the storms?The Storms are good for ~7K rear and maybe double that front, so a bit better than the Avon/BT020 combo on the LT. About the same for PR2 rears and maybe 10K for the fronts, but I did notice the flat spot transition to be a bit worse. Z6's were done well under 5K rears and 10K front.

The BT021 tires will be installed just before a 5K week (SoCal to FL and back). That's a lot of slab, but we'll see how they do. I may have to swing through Deal's Gap just to check the sides of the tires. :)

I put road attacks on my 2000 RT. I liked them a lot great handling. I can't comment on milage as I traded for a 2007RT shortly after. I'll probably put them on the 07 when the Z6's wear out.

Just like to introduce a thought regarding "sport-touring" tires vs. "sport" tires.

I currently have a Michelin Pilot Road on the front (a sport-touring tire), meanwhile I have the Michelin Pilot Sport on the rear (a sport tire). Why? Because I blew through the Michelin Road in under 6K miles, and a friend told me that he had better luck with the Sport version. So far, at about 3500 miles, it looks like I'm going to get more miles out of this "sport" tire. We'll see. I'm sure that it's not going to be less. I guess that the dual-compound of this Michelin Pilot Sport is working better for me.
