It seems as if none of my drills will fit under the LT when she's on the center stand.
I think I've seen 90 degree angle adapters for drills? Is that the ticket?

My cordless ones would not fit. Had to scrounge around the garage and find the old corded type.

I have read somewhere that it needs to be removed. :(
If a corded one works, I have to find one. :rotf:

I used a 3/8 dewalt corded drill with no problems. I agree my cordless would not fit.

I think a "Longer Than Normal Bit" was needed for mine.
Can't remember if I used the corded or cordless drill

I have a 90 degree drill that I suspect would work. You might find one in a rental shop.

Maybe park the wheels on 2x4's & then put one under the center stand? Might have to nail 2x4's to your shoes to reach the ground.

I took a old 1/4 inch drill sharpened it the put in a vice and broke it in half. Used the shortened/sharpened bit chucked up in a corded drill. worked for me.

There really is no secret to it. My cordless works just fine and had to use a bit that was actually a little longer than normal just to reach the area. Are you sure you are drilling in the correct area???? Worries me a bit....

Hey Bob:
I've got the drill bit, socket with cut out and small value torque wrench you need - more than welcome to borrow this stuff and take it home. Give me a shout on 237-1926 and we can hook up at my shop near the east side Costco.

I am glad you asked. I bought the kit from someone here, sorry I cant remember who, but the bit seemed longer then normal, so I am not loosing my mind. I thought it was because I needed the reach of the longer bit.
I hope your question provokes a second look at the documented procedures from this site.

Bob,
I say we meet at Ron's shop and do both of ours with Ron supervising :D
If he got the tools, he must have the experience !
Besides, I have been trying to drop off the CD with the videos of the Vergasser R11/1's maiden ride.

I don't think he is talking about the slave cylinder weep hole. It is the weep hole drilled in the cluch housing.

You will need a small drill with a short bit, or a 90 degree drill. That should give you plenty of room from the floor.

I used a small 1/4 " high speed air powered drill and slightly longer than standard drill bit. Also drilled hole in bottom of clutch housing to indicate if there is any engine or transmission seal leaking.

I have not drilled any holes but would a Dremel tool work?

Neil's got the pix of what I want to do, drain a hole to let out any engine oil that is getting into clutch housing.
Thank for the offer Ron. Since I'm leaking engine oil, I'm debating if I'm brave enough to yank the trany, replace the trany and engine seals, replace the slave cylinder, drill that hole, and put to back together again.
In the back of my mind is the idea I can call the local mc transport, and have him bring it to IronHorse if I get in over my head.

I think I'll drill two holes, one for the transmission leak and one for the engine oil leak. I'll just mark which one is which with a sharpie. :histerica
Now, all I need to do is find a drill bit short enough to do the job.

If you are offering to host a slave drilling and seal replacin' party, I'll gladly order up pizza and beer, even NA Clausthauler or NA St. Paulie. There are times I love the flavor of beer, but just don't want the side effects of the alcohol.
