I made the trip to Death Valley this weekend, 2 days to see a lot!. Dante's View was the most spectacular.. and for the record... first drop at a gas station, saw some sand, got focused on it.. and down she went... :( minor scratches, major pride damage.
I consider her now somewhat not new, 2.5k miles, a drop, and me with a sore butt, sore knees and a big grin from making it in one piece to look around it all.
Ignore the issues that may come, JUST RIDE IT!! I am doing just that.

Death Valley is the best. I did some product testing there last May over a few days, it only got to 113F. Way to cold. ;) The LT ran GREAT - even pulling a heavy trailer up some extremely steep and long grades. What an amazing cooling system.
Well worth visiting anytime except May through September... absolutely beautiful and some great riding in and out of the valley. Like riding on Mars.
About the only thing I did NOT like was the absurd $140.00 a night charge for a truly miserable tiny hotel room with a noisey ac, courtesy of Xanterra's exclusive contract with the National Park Service. I'll bet they have not made an improvement in the property at Furnace Creek since 1975.
At least I got free ice.

You picked the perfect time Tony; what WAS the high temp anyhow?
Welcome to the "I can pick it up" club; not exactly an exclusive membership, but it is a rite of passage.

Heya, the top temp was around 69F, just nice. As for the pickup, I did have help to put the sidestand down and some of the lifting due to my being very near another object, the petrol pump. The method of lifting does work though, I managed most of it, just not able to move around once it was up. If anyone has never been to Death Valley, I can highly recommend at the very least making the ride up to Dante's View. I do have some nice photos but they are all too large to post here.
