Just picked up a 99 LT yesterday & have been reviewing many posts.

How can I tell if I have a skid plate?

If I dont have one, will a dealer charge a mass amount for one?

Thanks!

Look under the engine, if you just see engine then you dont have one. I would get hold of someone who sells used LT parts and pick one up. LTPARTS.com or cycledrecycles.com should have one. Welcome to the forum.

I also bought a '99 LT 2-1/2 years ago on commission from the Dealer. Later I found out about the skid plate and asked if it was a warranty item.

The dealer provided parts and I paid for installation (~ $70.00 if I remember).

You might ask before buying parts yourself.

Only four bolts to hold the skid plate in place.

I think the minimum charge is for 15 minutes of labour.

Are you talking about the plate with bars just in front of the center stand, or is there supposed to be something over the oil filter plate as well??

The pan goes from the rear of the engine to just in front of the side stand bar.

It is VERY important since my LT bottoms out easily on any speed bump, With out it, you risk doing a lot of damage.
