Any Tall Riders

I am 6' 4" with a 36" inseam. I am interested in buying a GT. Are there ary tall riders that can give me some pointers on what they think of the confort of this bike. How do your legs feel after a 5 hour ride? How does the sheild do protecting your face from the elements

Have you had a chance to take a test ride at your local dealer? If you catch them on a weekday sometimes they'll let you take an extended ride so you can get a feel for the bike. ALso, the aftermarket has peg lowering kits, custom saddle makers, bar backs, etc., in case you can't get te stock ergonomics to meet your exact needs.

I'm 6'3". Stock seat in raised position. Handlebars adjusted all the way DOWN. My longest day in the saddle was over 1,200 miles. That was the last day of a 20-day, 9K mile trek around the country. This coming April, I'll be headed back out to the west coast. I'm sure I'll be doing several 600-800 miles days back-to-back on that ride.

Just my opinion, but I find that having my feet under me and a more cramped leg position, it's actually is more comfortable for me than my LT was.

I have an aftermarket windshield made by Cee Baileys. It's 2" taller than BMW's "Tall" shield ... and 3" wider. I LOVE IT!!!

I too am 6'-3" tall and went immediately to a Corbin seat for the GT and soon went to the Z Technik's new V Stream windshield wind screen http://www.ztechnik.com which is a bit taller and wider. I have a broken collar bone on the right shoulder that never actually healed and have tried all kinds of different positions with the bars and still the shoulder starts to ache after a while. I did a extended tour last summer with the bars in the full up position and it seemed to be OK but upon returning home decided to take them all the way down like Joe to see if that was any better. That seemed OK for the short trips and running around for the the duration of the riding season. This winter I picked up some "New-used" risers that are made by Surburban Machinery http://www.suburban-machinery.com/index.htm but have yet to try them. I will be installing them this spring too see if this is the answer to the constant ache in the shoulder.

6'3" with a 36" inseam should qualify me to enter this discussion.
I use the C. Baily -2 dark shield always in the low position. Puts my full face helmet in clean (read quiet air) but in the elements- remember it is a motorcycle.
My bars are almost in the lowest position. I formally rode KRS's so the GT is more sit up and beg than any bike I ever owned.
I was OK with the stock seat (high position) except that my knees were cramped. I installed a Sargent which has denser foam and gives me a little over an inch more of leg room. That made a big difference for my knees!

I have the tall stock shield and it measures 24.75". Ztechnik lists the height of the V Stream at 24.25" -- 1/2" shorter. Did your V Stream replace the standard short shield? I had a V Stream on my LT and I loved it but I'm afraid to buy it for my GT because of the listed height of the shield.
I'm 6'2" with a 32" inseam. I have the stock seat in the low position and I like to ride with the visor open. With the shield raised all the way up it consistently knocks my visor closed a notch or two at highway speeds. Very annoying.

Do you think the V Stream would fix this problem or should I get the taller Calsci or Cee Baileys?

Stock bars all the way down, Corbin seat in low position, stock pegs.

A great (and sporting) ride position, even if there is some minor thigh discomfort due to the knee bend. Nothing to complain about, though. Just a trade-off for the sport position.
