Probably most folks know about this, but since I haven't seen any postings on it lately, I'll share.

DVDaze XI is January 27,28,29, 2006 at the Furnace Creek Ranch in Death
Valley California. It's put together by the folks at IBMWR.

Check out the links and come on out.

And BTW, if you're heading up from San Diego on Friday, we're pulling together a group.

Rich,

Don't know if you have seen it, but there is also a thread in the Nor Cal forum about this. What route are you planning to take?

Hey Guys -
Don't forget we hold the HDDC Bar on Friday night. Just bring your favorite bottle to the room making the most noise.:beer::beer:Also we usally have a breakfast ride on Saturday morning to Beatty.

Jim,

We're thinking of heading up via the foothills east of you to El Cajon pass then 395 to the 190 pass into the valley. Unless it's raining, then we'll take the shortest damn route there is.

When are you heading up?

John,
I'm hoping that I can make it to the HDDC Bar this January. Will Nelson be there? I still laugh about that every time I remember it. I'll join everyone for the Beatty Breakfast. Last time there was the older waitress training her daughter to continue the family career path.

I made my reservation at the campground. I plan to head straight south out of Cleveland to Mobile, AL then across MS, LA, TX, NM, AZ and up through the Mojave to DeVa. That's assuming I can get that pig out of my garage and down the driveway without falling on the ice.

Hi Nelson,
I didn't have a clue about that DVD story until a year later when I showed up at another gathering with my girlfriend. It was the funniest story I heard in a long time and John could hardly wait to see me to tell me about it. That bitch.

Hi Rich,

Haven't seen you on here in a while. I'm trying to figure out how to get out of a company function and attend DVDaze. Hopefully, I'll see you there.

Looks like we need to find another Saturday morning breakfast joint for this coming DVD. If you follow this thread…
http://www.death-valley.us/postx2573-0-0.html
…you’ll learn that the Exchange Club was bought out. And, as always, there are two sides to every argument about who is right and wrong. Bottom line for us, though, is where do we eat breakfast Saturday morning?

We rode thru there in Oct.2005. The new casino at the north end of town had good food and fast service. Didn't see any other choices. Looks like all the others have closed. Last time we were in Beatty was spring of 2000.
Tom: What route are you going to take to get there? A few weeks ago we came home from SoCal on 395. I saw a sign that said Death Valley right turn but it was quite aways before 190. Is it paved all the way. I have gone south out of DV but it turns and goes east. If you go straight where the road turns east it becomes dirt.

Rich,

I usually ride up Friday morning with a fellow on a RT. Haven't discussed a route yet.

Hey Bruce,

I'm guessing that you are talking about Wildrose. Last year we rode to and through the town of Trona (what a garden spot http://www.napanet.net/~tlash/haha.gif) to get to DV. From 395 to Trona the highway is SR178. East from Trona the highway loses its SR number and is simply called Trona-Wildrose Road. If you take the left fork onto Panamint Valley to SR190 it is all asphalt. If you stay basically straight or east, there is a section of hard packed dirt. Four years ago I took that section on my RT while riding to the White Stag. It was passable but I had to watch for ice patches. Probably best to stay on Panamint Valley Rd.

How anyone is going, I don’t know, including myself. There are now rumblings about a possible Thursday afternoon departure, with an overnight in route. I just don’t know yet.

Let me know I'm game for leaving on thursday. Sorry about the big letters I used in the last post. I just found out I had font and size options and got carried away.

Glad you enjoyed it, Jim. Dayle and I went to DVD last year, but this year I did the White Stag Rally instead. I ended up crossing Death Valley three times in 20 hours, twice in the dark, and once at 30 degrees.

It was a blast. :D I'll post a ride report in the appropriate forum soon.
