I'm sure someone has asked this question and it's been answered but does anyone known the Altitude at the Resort? I was at CCR in Breckenridge and I don't think I can take that high altitude stuff for a week again, I live where it's flat.

A quick check and Heber Valley Airport says it's at 1718 meters or 5636 feet. So if I remember correctly, that is almost 5,000 feet lower than Breckenridge. Should be good for a flatlander like you. :D

Just for historical sake, Breckenridge was over 9000ft. Santa Fe was 7000ft. And Jackson Lake Lodge was 6500ft.

Will, Thanks for asking the question about altitude. I too am a flat lander but already have my reservations made. I was hoping I wasn't making a mistake on going to '08 CCR. I learned a lot last year and met some mighty fine folks too. The only complaint I had was the LOUD music. LOL It's hell getting OLD, you see. LOL :rotf:

I think the altitude goes up quite a bit during the Booze Brothers get togethers though. ;)

I donno Steve...some of those guys...and gals...got into that good scotch and were so high they could have been hunting geese with rakes. I still think it's altitude. ;) But....attitudes, some of them changed a bunch. :D

Perhaps it's an opportunity for an additional value-added feature of the ultimate luxury touring rally - an oxygen bar. http://www.wtfdetroit.com/forums/images/smilies/stars.gif

Ok I know I am splitting hairs here but I really like to use the correct term. Its kind of like motor and engine, altitude and elevation. They are not technically the same. Altitude is measued either as above mean sea level (MSL) or above ground level (AGL) and is used when you are no long touching dirt. Where as elevation is only measured above MSL (it is always zero AGL).

The correct term, if you are still touching dirt, is elevation.

When you live at sea level and go to elavation, you cant help it when you reach altitude!

I can't remember what the elevation is there. A few years ago I did some skiing there and had no problems. I was staying in Italy in the resort of Chivania (SP) it is right over the mountain from Zermat. The mountain right outside of either town is the Matterhorn. Pretty impressive, if I remember correctly the Matterhorn is somewhere around 16,000 ft above sea level. I do remember it taking about an 45 minutes each morning to arrive at Plata Rosa the area that is a plateau that is the border between Switerland and Italy. We would ski down to Zermat in the morning and then return in the late afternoon in order to return before the lifts quite running. There wasn't enough snow to ski into Chivania. If the Matterhorn was 16,000 and Poco Chivania (little Matterhorn) was 14,000 thousand and Plata Rose was about 12,000 I would think that Zermat is somewhere around 7,000 t0 8,000 ft above sea level.

Hope this is close.

have a great time. that is a great area with so much riding to do.

Ummmmm.....Okay. Perhaps the question could have been more specific and stated exactly which Zermat was being discussed, but if CCR is going to be in Switzerland, I need to update my passport. ;) :rotf:

But hey....At least the beer will be good, however, poor Jeff won't be able to get any of that purple stuff, so we'll have to listen to him whine. :histerica

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Never fear! Floyd will import a 6-pack and I'll be just fine.

At least there's plenty of time for us to hit the treadmill and get the lungs in shape for the change in O2 ;)

Midway is 5,581 ft. but the mountain roads will take up up to the 9,000 ft. level

There are numerous good riding roads that do not get that high.

Here is a 'snap shot' of quite a few things about Midway that you probably didn't want to know ... but in amoungst that is the "elevation" which is 5567 feet ... the Zermat is a titch (I'm going to get 'feedback' on that  ) higher, so lets say you are on a hill in Denver!

http://www.city-data.com/city/Midway-Utah.html

Breckenridge was/is 9600 ft

Santa Fe 7320 ft

Jackson Lake 'surface' elevation 6772 ft ... Lodge a bit higher :)

Now for another geography tibit, for those of you going to MOA ... Gillette is very close to the lowest point in Wyoming ... the Belle Fourche River at 3099 ft, which is the second highest low point of any U.S. State! Yes, its southern neighbor, Colorado has the highest low point at 3315 ft :D
