Would this be an easy way to log a ride? looks like you can log every 15 sec /12hours per day for 180 days. That would be great then to import into a mapping software and plot your route.

As well as that, it works with any digital camera to show where you took your photos (by syncing the time stamp).
I have just ordered mine direct and will post my findings here.
btw
Aparently there is free software that will work with most gps units that will do all of the above.
BUT my SPIII does not hold enough track info for a big trip, hence this unit.

I used to use a Red Hen (http://www.redhensystems.com/products/multimedia_mapping_software/iswhere/default.asp?sm=2) system to geo-reference video. It has it's own little GPS engine (Trimble) which then used to write 3D coords to the audio track of the video, in real-time. You then captured the video onto a PC, and by using their software each frame was geofeferenced (it extropolated between pulses to generate data for each frame). We tried to link this into diferential GPS but that was not possible, so we just applied corrections to increase the accuracy.
