Ok I currently ride 05 Lt mostly 2 up and LD fully loaded and have not had a problem. I am 5'6 with a 29 inseam. I sat on a GS Adventure at dealer and tried several seats in the showroom. I was fine with the piece of plywood with vinyl on it with my wife on back. Felt like I could handle the bike fine, but my ass was gonna hurt real bad. I know the regular GS is shorter but I want an Adventure. My buddy says there is no way I could ride a Adventure. So my question is for guys who ride the adventure. What is YOUR inseam and any guidance on mods for short guys? Thanks

You can order a set of lower shocks from Works Performance. They will lower the bike a good two inches. If you're not concerned with off-road groud clearance, you'll be good.

I Don't have GS Adventure . I do have a R1100GS , & did have a R100/GSPD . Also my inseam is 28" . My thought is it all depends were you are going to ride it . If it is mostly paved roads , & flat paved parking . You might do OK . But if you plan on Inuvik in the NWT , maybe not . .I do OK on my R1100GS , & did OK with the GSPD . But there have been a few times that I could not get off the bike because were I stopped was a little too slanted ,or there was a hole ,or ???
Anyway I road my R1100GS to Inuvik last summer , & if my bike was any higher I know I would have dropped it .

I have a 29" inseam an ordered a standard Sargent seat - not the low one. Great seat and made just enough difference + the Wife really likes the pillion, cause it keeps her from sliding forward like the stock one did..
Of course when it's loaded down it's even lower.

I have a 27" inseam. Rode a stock R11GS for 11 years. Not as high as an adventure but I never dropped it. I was always able to stop it and dismount and remount and ride away. Although most of my riding was on paved roads, I did manage to travel some pretty rough dirt roads as well. In fact, one of the very best days we ever spent 2 up on any bike was on the GS travelling about 160 miles over some of the roughest dirt roads? in the interior of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park here in Nova Scotia.
Did you ever ride with an American bald eagle flying straight down the road just above head level and about 15 feet in front of you for some distance then peel off over the tree tops? We did. What grace! What a wing span! What a magnificent sight!! That was the highlight of a great trip in the interior that day.
The GS was completely stock with no compensation for my inseam deficiency. There was a time when I replaced the torque link with a longer one to lower the bike about 1". I didn't like the angle the drive shaft was on. I gave my head a shake and I changed it back.
The GS in all its forms is about the best bike ever made period. I would never have sold that one except we wanted a better rear seat for my wife for a 15,000 mile trip we have replanned for this summer. I would have another one in a minute if my riding wasn't 2 up for the most part.
I better stop now, I'm gettin' all misty eyed here.

If Tom Gallo's wife can ride a new GS, anyone can. She's about 5'3" (on a good day) with an inseam of probably about 30" ... maybe less. Tom set her GS up really well with a different seat and custom Wilburs. Where there's a will, there's a way.

I have a 30" inseam. I put a Seargent low seat on my Adventure and with my S.W.A.T. boots, I can almost flat foot on the bike with just me (and a full tank of gas)

Ok so I can do it. Now I just have to convince wife that she will be comfy on GS. She will never give up the LT and I know it.

my wifes GS is lowered 2", it's fine, and it is only a GS, the lowered shocks will fit on a GSA as well, POSITIVLY!
we were thinking of replacing her '06 GS with a new GSA, lowering it will be no problem, we can take her 2" lowered shocks off her GS and put them right on the GSA, we had Klaus build those shocks for her, I can only say good things about him and the shocks he builds, try the hyper pros they are fully adjustable and truely built for your needs, Ohlins are merely a spring change and we tried works once. (didn't like them at all)
