There are 5 or 6 of us riding out from Austin Texas for this on April 18-20 2008.
Any help on good places to stay (as in not expensive ;) )
Also is any one from that area going to be there as I would like to meet up if we could.

I go every year from Mississippi. One year I stayed at the Holiday Inn express in Irondale Al. It is real close to the track. Also staying there and we were able to have breakfast with was Roger Hayden, Josh Haze and Miguel Duhamel.

I stayed in Irondale last year. There are a couple non-brand hotels there. I had a room for about $60. sorry forgot the name -will let you know if I fnd it.
the area is a little rough looking but I saw no problems etc. only a few miles to track
Then there is always 29 Dreams Motorcycle Resort. A campground with small cabins. search the net
also, buy ticket for the weekend early and pick up at will call saves$$$
I will see you there! Barber is a agnificant facility!

Hey Steve,
I've called over to that area and warned them you were coming. They asked about you and I gave them a very good description of your and your antics. They said the room rates with 100 miles of the track just tripled their rates, for you and your crew. :p :D

Im originaly from jsut down the road in Anniston, Alabama. The following weekend is the 500 at Talladega. Dont be suprised if the rooms are a little more expensive. The usually start filling up the weekend before. I have a friend that use to run a hotel and their policy was to start the jump the weekend before, and you had to be willing to stay an entire week to get one. At a price of 150 a night for a rat hole. I am saying this to let you know that their are very few hotels between B'ham and the Georgia line. Altough about 100,000 people camp at the track, it seats 150,000 and usually there are campers that stay and dont have tickets.
May I suggest that if the rooms are full go to Cullman. Its just a little north of B'ham. But not a bad ride on the LT from the park.
