I have just heard that City Navigator 2008 Europe has been released.

It's about $75 as an upgrade from v9. Unless you purchased your unit after 1st Dec 2007, then you are entitled to it for free.

Yep. Placed my order today.

But beware: you must unlock before 31st May 2008. After that your (free) unlock code will no longer work.

Good point about the May deadline. I also just ordered mine but the site says that it won't be delivered for 4-6 weeks so I'm a bit disappointed about that.

That is because the update CNE 2008 hasn't been released yet.

Just ordered mine.

It´s free as I purchased my unit at the beginning of last year.

Garmin says it will take 4/5 weeks to arrive.

Thanks for your help.

When you get it up and running would you be kind enough to answer a question for me. Zoom in on Slovenia (just below Austria, East of Italy)
and tell me if road details are supported below 20 km scale ? I'm using
NTS V9 in the NAV III, when using MapSource below this scale, I loose all
the road detail info. TIA

Hilton,

There is a possibility to check yourself.

Goto:
http://www8.garmin.com/cartography/mapSource/citynavntEurope.jsp
In the right side upper corner there is a box 'MapSource Map Viewer' -> click on
http://www8.garmin.com/graphics/icons/mapicon2.gif City Navigator Europe NT (disable pop-up blockers). You can zoom in to the level you want to...

Thanks Erwin, I'll check it out and see what happens.
Just got back from another excellent ride from Ajaccio, Corsica. Boy this place must be the best place for bike riding on the planet. Think "Dragon" + Blue Ridge. but 100's kms. Awesome.
Cheers

Saw pictures that my brother took last year on his holiday (by car, though). Excellent routes. I must go there once (once I've seen all of Norway)

Thanks for that Simon. Checked out the link Erwin gave me and came to the conclusion that only Ljublana and Maribor where supported at this detail 30m,
with main inter-city roads as well. The Garmin colour coded map of Europe, from the same web site, shows Slovenia as only having main city detail. I'll wait until I can get my hands on the new version to see. Plan to meet up with an LT get together in Germany in May, maybe someone there will have the newer maps. I have NT V9.0 now, does that make this newer version V10.0 ?

Garmin have discontinued that sequence. They call it by year now, so that makes it the latest version City Navigator Europe NT 2008 and next years' will be CNE NT 2009.
