View Full Version : Chattanooga parking

For a variety of reasons (I know, LT's don't belong on trailers), I will be trailering a couple of bikes (one LT and one "other brand") from Houston to Chattanooga in late May where we will then spend 5 or 6 days riding through the Smokey Mountain/Blue Ridge area. The problem is where to safely park our tow vehicle and trailer. Would anybody who lives in the area have some ideas about storage areas or parking lots that would take our vehicles for a one week period. I thought about the airport parking but not sure if they would allow the trailer.
Any and all ideas will be welcomed.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

I think you'll get a better response for this in the South East forum...

Any particular reason you're chosing Chattanooga to park the trailer and tow vehicle? I personally believe you'd be better off parking further east in the Knoxville, TN, Cherokee, NC area to be closer to the better riding. If you were to go that direction, I talk to John and Charlene about leaving you stuff at their place at the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge (http://www.ironhorsenc.com/). Spending a night or two there wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Steve,
Chattanooga just seemed like a logical jumping off place to catch the western end of the Cherohala Skyway and heading east into NC from there. Also I have a pretty good route that dumps off within an hour of Chattanooga on the return trip. I also thought it would be as good a place to find a place to park as any.
The last time we did this (1998) my friend had a niece who lived in Knoxville so that worked out well. Knoxville still might be an option but we would probably run the planned route in reverse to avoid the Dragon. I've run it three times and during the last trip we barely got through with our lives trying to avoid all the crazies and trucks.
I'll try the south-east forum also (thanks for the suggestion).

You should take a look at Murphy, NC.
We are an hour from Deal's Gap and and Hour to Wolf Pen Gap.
There are rental listings on my webpage: www.ridewnc.com

Don't live in the Chattanooga area but had a couple of thoughts. some wrecker services have fenced-in secure lots. also some storage facilites (furniture ect.) have fenced-in secure lots for storing boats,RV's ect. good luck

Thanks to all for some good ideas and food for thought. I finally received a reply from one of the airport parking lots and they will take van and trailer for $7.50/day which may be the way to go for secured parking.
Thanks again to everyone,
Steve

I can get this done for you in Soddy-Daisy, TN...about 15 miles north of Chattanooga...for no charge. Fenced and secure. Look at the map and see if this would work for you and PM me if interested.

I was going to put him inside the fence at the Bud warehouse in Soddy right on 27, but I think he has other ideas.
