BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) - Tom Cruise is the first on the list to get Ducati's newest motorcycle - a $72,500 superbike bristling with titanium, magnesium and carbon fiber technology that can scoot up to 200 mph.
Cruise is scheduled to take delivery of the Desmosedici RR at Beverly Hills Ducati this week. Only 1,500 of the red-and-white Moto GP racing replica motorcycles will be made and Cruise gets the first.
Michael Lock, chief of Cupertino-based Ducati North America, said the Desmosedici RR ``is the impossible dream - made possible.''
``We are delighted to be able to deliver the world's first production unit here in the USA to Tom Cruise, who is a well-known Ducati enthusiast,'' Lock said in a statement.

I wonder if Tom's a collector, or a rider? Perhaps Scotty Dawg has the inside scoop. Scott?

that little SOB - I've heard he's a Ducati enthusiast but I bet he's just a poser w/mile wide chicken strips!
(really I'm just jealous!)

Maybe he could go by and pick up B Spears and they could ride off into the sunset together - forever. They may be really nice folks deep down inside, but I for one am really tired of the mere mention of their names - kind of like Amsoil. (Which even hurt to type.)

Hmmm. Is that a drywall nail pop I detect on the side fairing? :lol8:
But seriously, nice machine! Oh to have more money than sense. I'll have to settle for sense if it means I can keep my psychoactive pharmaceuticals.

I've heard that Brad Pit is a decent rider, don't know about TC, only have seen him pull up on a cruiser at movie premiers.
A machine like this commands a tremendous amount of respect.

Whoa! For a second, I thought he was jumping on a PSYCHIATRIST'S couch!
Didn't you guys see him ride the bike in Top Gun? You know, no helmet, no gloves.... and now he has a Ducati. There is hope yet!

I see this as the way for us to get rid of Tom Cruise. I just hate the fact he may take a really nice bike with him. :histerica

He's probably just a collector. I don't think he's tall enough to ride it without training wheels!

Nah, he's got a 999 and rides quite a bit. I'm flying out next week to go on a shakedown ride with him on my new scoot.
The good thing about my new bike is that I can take it as a carry on.

I heard on the radio today that he only had to pay $72,500.00 for it. I wonder why he didn't but one for Katie too?

According to a post at a Ducati board, he rides very well, and often takes his 999R to the track.

Don't forget the ridiculous two-bike stunt in Mission Impossible (or was it MI II?).Think it was MI II, just around the corner (literally) from my place in Sydney. They took out a stuntman who was standing nearby (in shot) while they were at it... ended his career and nearly his life.
How the hell did he beat Jay Lenno to the new toy anyway.
Glad Nic pi$$ed him off... to take up with a druggy country singer??? :rotf:

I've heard that Brad Pit is a decent rider, ....
He was here in South Africa a few years ago as a guest of BMW and he had an extensive tour on a R 1200 GSA ... he enjoyed it so much that he wanted to take the bike home but due to some emmissions stuff etc. BMW built one in the US to the spec we have where they could and he took that one.
Everybody that were involved with his trip here were full of praise for his good manners and general great personality.

I wish Tom the best on his new bike. Don't know the man so I can't judge him.
He's a biker, more power to him.
