Ride About 2008 should be a fun ride.
The route is just about locked down and we estimate 16 days should get it done in a fine way.

I'll be heading up to Madison Alabama where James & I will hook up for the ride north up through Indiana and into Michigan, then up through the Upper Peninsula.

After some exploring we will head west across Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and Montana to Glacier NP.

Then South East across Montana and down to the Little Big Horn, Gillette Wyoming and Devils Tower.

Spearfish South Dakota and through Spearfish Canyon to Custer National Park & Iron Mountain Road to Mt. Rushmore and to Deadwood for a night of cards and bison steaks.

Sturgis, Rapid City and through The Badlands NP and down to Wounded Knee.

South East through Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Illinois, Paducah Ky, Nashville and back to Madison Alabama. Next day I head back here to FlatLand.

I'll post the route maps when finalized and will be using the Sat Tracking System so anyone with web access can follow along with us.

This year makes Thirty (30) years that James & I have been Friends and riding buddies so we will make sure we have a big time!

That sounds like a great ride, Dave! If you're going to Mt Rushmore, take the 15 minute ride over to the Crazy Horse Memorial. It's very impressive and moving, not to mention they're doing it all privately funded!

Better luck with the FD & weather this time, Dave...

Hello Rick-L!!!

It appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums.

That sounds like a great route. I have been doing the same thing with a riding buddy, but only since '99. Your planning is well ahead of ours.

Take a look at this web site if you get a chance. With as many miles as you doing and all the pictures you are going to take, it is a easy way to keep them organized on the fly with the benefit of also keeping a very accurate course record.

I have had the rechargeable Photo Tracker for about a year and it works as advertised. I see they now have one that takes a AA battery. Their software now supports raw if you shoot that way.

Looking forward to another great ride report. :thumb:

I agreed with taking the time to see Crazy Horse. Saw it back in 1990, will be stopping in July to see how it has changed.

Are you planning to be at the BMWMOA rally.

If so see you there.

It is nice to have a long time riding buddy, miss the friend who I rode with when he checked out at age 48. Just have not found anyone in the last 24 years who I felt at ease with on the road.

Great choice of roads and places Dave, I did a lot of that last year going to Hyder. While on Iron Mt. I guess you'll take the Needles Hwy. over to Deadwood, that's a very cool road, cut through the tops of all those spires. What dates do you plan to be in Glacier NP? I'm planning on "Going to the Sun" on my way to Hyderseek this year. -Chuck-
