I haven't seen any listed.
Polar Bear Riders have nothing scheduled for that Sunday.

Last year, after a horrible and cold December, it was 65 degrees on January 1st. What a beautiful ride it was to the Jersey shore. Bikes were everywhere! I will be ready again should anyone want to ride on New Years Day !! By the way, has anyone seen a snowplow for the LT? I would definately buy one and lead the way!

Last year a bunch of LT riders met at the Vince Lombardi rest Area off of the Jersey TPK for Ice Cream. I believe we called it the First Annual Numb Nutz Ride. It turned out to be in the 60s that day and not much of a challenge riding up from Baltimore. Anybody from the old Klt site recall this?

No, I'm right here, still in Southbury, CT. Living in a Senior Only Community. Aging faster than I ever have before!
I posted a thing about a Numb Nutz Ride a few weeks ago, but there wasn't much response. I was thinking about moving it north to the Mass Pike this year. Any one have any other ideas?
Spiros, rev up that famed motivator of yours, and let's see what we can put together, OK?

What do you have in mind for this year?
Lets see how many people want to come and we can arrange the place accordingly.

Why not same as last year? Unless the majority does not like the very beautiful scenic vistas afforded along the NJTPK.... :)

Tom-
You know I like the NJTPK since I have to commute on it twice a day. I would not mind a ride on the TPK meeting at the same place like last year.
I want to be out on December 29th this year ( I had a major accident that totalled the 1st bike on Dec 29th,2002 , where a flatbed tow truck hit me from the back .)

Yep, I remember the Numb Nutz ride. It was great to get out with such fantastic weather. Even after working the New Year's Eve event at Times Square. This year unfortunately I can't make the ride. I'll be at the Jets game. For the first time ever, the Jets are playing on that day. Although they suck this year, they're still my team.
Take care and safe riding,
Hector

Ok-
Since the time is approaching fast, given the fact we have NOT all yet agreed where this need to take place, I propose to meet at the same rest area as last year.
Jay-
Please post the details. We could ride into upstate NY, or PA once we all meet at the turnpike area. I am sure some of the people that are going to show up will have a good idea of the local routes we could take.
We usually use FRS to communicate with each other (CB is rare but doable ) so, please recharge your batteries and come out.
It would be really nice to see/meet everyone and have fun on the 1st. We could have lunch at some place we ride and then decide whether to continue or split at that point.
Cheerios my good folk!

OK, who to answer first.....
Pete;
I have no problem with the run for the Hospice, however, its location would make it a real bear to get to for some folks, myself included. Almost 3 hours, each way. Not bad in 60 degrees, but we are talking about New Years Day. Will it be as great as last year? If there is any weather involved, the roads may not be all that good either.
Spiros;
Last year we met at the Vince Lombardi rest area of the NJTPK. It is the one NORTH of the northern most tollboth, and it is accessable from either spur of the turnpike, in either direction. We set the time for noon, so as to allow for a bit of New Year's Eve celebration, short daylight hours, some fairly long trips to arrive, and to have the best relative road conditions, regardless of weather. We did not take any ride together, since folks were arriving covering a 2 hour span. We sat, had coffee, kicked tires, and had a general good time meeting/greeting.
Barnett;
I would be thrilled to meet you, and anyone else from the CT area, to go down to either location. Either is 2-3 hours from the Danbury area, add 45 minutes from Hartford, subtract 30 minutes from New Haven via the Merritt.
Everyone;
Last year was set to happen rain or shine, 2 wheels or 4. I suggest we do the same this year, unless we decide to go to the Hospice run, which I presume will be re-scheduled for inclement weather.
We had 16 or so folks from all over the NE region, and a few from a bit farther south. I had a great time, and so said many others. Spiros avoided the event just to avoid meeting me, so I need to plan another one!
What say you all?????

OK now you know the coordinates for the andover NJ diner. This is your first bonus location. Great food and about 1/2 hour away from the Chilli Chilli ride starting location. This location is a good meeting place. Depart by 9:30 am. Note the lower the temperature the lower turn out rate at the CC ride. Any takers?

So, let me get this straight.
Is the meeting place the Vince Lombardi area this year again?
I took my bike in for the 24K service last week and here is the work performed on it:
- The engine was leaking oil, so they are doing some work on it replacing the seals or someting
- The clutch had issues, so they are giving me a whole new clutch
- One screw on the final drive had some sort of manufacturer defect on it and the dealer did not feel comfortable with, so they are giving me a new final drive.
I guess I am going to have a brand new bike now. Picking it up later on this week...
See you at Vince Lombardi on the 1st ?

Sorry to here of all the problems with the bike, but glad you were able to get them fixed. I assume the service was done at CCBMW? I know Brian will not let a bike out of the shop unless it is 100%

Tom looks like you guys are not planning on the chilli chilli ride. Refer to earlier post with lon. and lat. post. N40 59.701 W74 44.608. Those coordinates bring you to a great diner, Breakfast before the ride. If you guys change your mind 9 am meet time.

Pete, The reason JayZ picked Vince Lombardi Last year was due to the fact it is on a major roadway and easily accessible from the north and south and a reasonable middle point for the guys from CT, So. Jersey and Philly area.
I'm sure the Chilli run would be a fun day, however, it would add at least 2hrs. ride time round trip for most riders(not me), along with the early start time, uncertain weather(we are not going to get another 60% day) and road conditions it appears the Vice Lombardi location is the preference.
If the majority of the guys want to change and do the Chilli Ride, lets here it, I'm in either way...

Jay, looks like the weather will be a repeat of last year (60's in NYC) except for wet roads in the AM. Do you want to do the same route? I84 E14 at 9:45 Commuter lot, then I84-I684-Saw Mill River-Tappan Zee-9W south-Palisades-I95-NJTPK-Vince Lombardi.
Maybe others from CT will join us this year!!!

Old man winter is also working on slick roads for New Years Day morning.
On Friday I did a run to the Colchester Bakery and over to Portland. It was like a spring ride, in the low 40's.
Glastonbury is using "Clear Lane" (Mg/Cl/molasses for color) instead of sand this winter. The state is still on the sand /salt mix. I will not miss the sand on my winter rides!

Glastonbury is about 40 miles inland from Long Island Sound, where they had rain. Wake up temp was 30F today. Conditions did not meet my winter riding road standards. Happy 2 0 0 6 to ALL.
