A young brave was curious how names were given to offspring and asked the sage old timer of the tribe. "The first animal seen after a child's birth is the basis for the name", replied the old timer. "Running Fawn received her name after her mother saw a fawn running through the forest; Sitting Bull, of course, after his mother saw a bull sitting on his haunches.

The old timer noticed the perplexed look on the young braves face and asked,
