Well I just went and done it, just ordered a set of Ohlins form Dan’s racing. My bike has 36000 on the clock and I hope that I will be able to tell a difference in a better ride. It’s hard for me to let go of that kind of money for a set of shocks or anything else for that matter. So I guess, I’m looking for some encouragement on my purchase.

Thanks Mickey

No doubt! I just read a report on a rider who installed a set of Ohlins and he said it was the BEST upgrade he had ever done. He could certainly tell so much of a positive difference that the originals didn;t even compare. I think you be VERY impressed and be able to FEEL the difference!

I haven't heard of anybody not feeling like they did the right thing replacing stock shocks. I did it at 25k on the '99 and 15k on the '03. Just got the Ohlins back yesterday from Kyle Racing after a rebuild. I am ready to put them back on. The old stock ones are bad.

put Ohlins on the 02 - best thing I did. Rear first (W noticed ride difference). 5K later did the front (W again noticed a big difference). Both of us noted handling improvement (from great to greater). Will do it again when the OEMs go on the 07.

I just spoke with my dealer about shocks and he said the he prefers Ohlins and they can rebuild and service those at their shop.

Feeling better?

Now I need to see how much this will cost????

I've had Ohlins on my last 2 LTs and I don't think I would own one without them. It truly transforms the handling, feel and on road confidence and conform of the bike. You spent your $$$ wisely.

You'll love it. If your bike wallers in corners and you touch down a lot, well, you can adios that.

Although the rear shocks on the 05 and up are much improved over the older ones, the Ohlins did make a big difference after only 24K. And the front was the best improvement overall. Like wise about re-building as well. If you watch out on other forums as well here you can usually find a group buy. I got mine Dec of 06 for just about the cost of new stock units (1,100) through a sport rider group buy.

I have not had experience with these shocks; however, as you can see and I have read in the past it is hard to find someone who does not like them!
Good move on your part.

Another vote for "You will love them".

The bike will ride better than new. Biggest difference I noticed when I first put them on was hitting the little dips in the pavement before bridges I rode over every day. Before when the bike was new the bike would give a little bounce. After the original shocks wore (badly, I waited FAR too long) it would dip, bounce twice, along with a "clunk".

I put the Ohlins on, thinking all the while: "This sure is a lot of money for shocks, sure hope I notice the difference!"

Well it took the first ride to know that I was happy with them. Hitting those same dips on the way to work the next morning had me smiling. The bike floated over those dips almost like they were not there. Much more solid feel in the twisties too!

Yeah, a lot of money, but worth it! Plus, they can be re-built for around $100 each, a BIG plus. Take my word for it, have them re-built around 30K miles. Don't think about it, just do it! Actually, if you have a local shock service company that works on Ohlins, have the nitrogen repressurized at 15K between re-builds. They will do that for tupically $15-20 each. When you put them on, try to get the pressurization ports oriented so that they can be repressurized without removing them.

A good investment !.

Sometimes takes a while to get them set-up properly to your riding style, but once done, you will be amazed the difference they make to the bikes handlng.

Don´t throw the old ones, as you can always switch back if you sell the bike.

Keep us updated on how it goes.

I was very pleased with my Ohlins. I also noticed that when going over speed bumps it did not bottom on the skid plate anymore. High speed sweepers are very stable with no wallow. Cost was about $1200 and was well worth it.
