Why was he flying the desk so long? We went three days, popped into the shrinks office and hit the street. They made him wait till the Grand Jury? WTF?

Hey.. why isn't the NAACP screaming that kids shouldn't be doing that stuff? Shouldn't they be showing that video to gang-bangers that "hey, you will be shot and you may survive.. and if you do, what happens?

And then there is the last sentence in the story:
"It's possible he fled because he had an outstanding violation of probation warrant."

I say that line should be corrected to:
It's likeley he fled because he's just a dumb $#!T who is quite lucky it was not his dayt to die.

His not cleared yet. He still has to go through internal affairs investigation which is a couple of days. You got to remember when you are involved in a shooting, police, are a suspect. We get treated like that. Not saying it is bad. You get an officer assigned to you and you can not talk to anyone about what just happened only with your suspervisor, your lawyer and the investigator. All your buddies have to wait until the investigation is complete. You get your hands wipped for gunpowder, you get your gun impounded, your rights are read, your officers bill of rights are read, which is you can not remain silent. And you lose money. You can not work overtime any off duty detail. The first I saw of the video was yesterday on the news. How do I know about all this, I was involved in a shooting in 2002. I lost about $3000 and was pilot of desk for about three months. I had to wait until a grand jury was picked. I was also called a racist in my shooting in the paper. Lucky there were about 20 some witnesses. Mine happend about the same time as Poppe at lunch. Only 8 more years of LEO. :)

Damn John,

That is F**king crazy!!! Like I said, we went three days. After a "righteous shoot" like this obviously was (and we didn't have dash cams either) we would be escorted to the agency, read our rights, interviewed by the IA, they would have someone type our statement, which we would stop by the office and sign within twenty-four hours, make an appointment with the shrink and be back on the street in three days (and THAT'S when the wolves got nervous ;) ).

It was actually easier if you shot someone than arrested them, cause you didn't have to do any paperwork and got a three day paid vacation. I never flew a desk, didn't have to give up my creds, just had to be near a phone for questions. I never had to go before the Grand Jury either, cause one of the Investigators would just read my statement.

Glad I made it long enough to pull the pin, cause things have sure gone down hill. :(

Keep your ass down John!!!

Too bad he didn't drill the guy between the eyes. Would've been natural selection at work.
