The lighter weight makes it much more attractive to me. I've seen how hard the big beast is to handle not to mention pick-up once it falls over on anything other than a slightly unimproved dirt road. It's also a blast riding the lighter bike in the dirt without luggage for jaunts through forest paths and desert trails. Borrow someone's F650 for a few hours especially after riding the 1200 and you'll get the idea. It seems light as a bicycle, twice as nimble and nowhere near as exhausting at the end of the day.

I have a 1200 and a 650X may replace both of them with an 800. It may be "just the right size":D

The 1200GS has been awesome for me during long dual sport trips where you have to cover some long distances. The 800 will be easier to handle in the dirt and have better suspension for the dirt. It won't be as fast or handle quite as well on the street as the big GS but it will still be very good, much better than a 650 for street/distance riding.

I bet the 800 will make a sweet Motard!

I'm considering it as an addition - keep the 12GS Adv for LD riding and the 800 GS for when I want to venture offroad.

800+ for me are cain drive, no cylinders sticking out to whack on rocks, weight. Must test one out though.

I have a 1200 GSA. I want to buy an 800 for my wife. She says it would be just perfect for her.

Maybe that would be a good use of the upcoming tax rebate...

When I saw that it has only tube type tires due to the center spoked wheels I lost all of my interest in it. What a great place to save money!

I like it but I like my "girlie" KTM 950 more! You can have those wheels made tubless, I did it on my custom 19/17 set of wheels. Try Woody's Wheelworks in Denver.
